Back in 1997, CK departmental store started out with one small outlet, located at Toa Payoh. The founder, Mr Ang Chin Koon manned the store 7 days a week. Talk about perseverance!
They take care of their staff’s well being.
Their headquarters, opened in 2011 at Tampines, does not just include a warehouse and head office. The 6-storey building also consists of a training facility area and a staff recreational room which includes a pool table, small library and karaoke set for the employees.
They have a hardworking CEO
Their CEO and founder first promoted the business by speaking through a loudspeaker and calling “lelong lelong” back in 1997.
My CK’s CEO had a rough past
Mr Ang, My CK’s founder previously had a family business with his siblings in the same trade. However, he disagreed with the way the family operated the business and left. Unfortunately, he was a guarantor when the company became unsuccessful resulting in him going bankrupt.
His teenage daughter helped him get back up
After declaring bankruptcy, the CEO of My CK did not give up. He kick-started his own business—CK departmental store after getting financial help from 17 people, including his then teenage daughter.
Having their customers be themselves is one of their core values
Stated on their company’s website, My CK pride themselves in creating a space for customers to be themselves and feel comfortable when shopping with them.
There were no toiletries sold at first
Starting out as a fashion store in 1997, the company expanded their line of products and brought in toiletries and personal care products in 2002.

Already known to provide products at an affordable price, My CK have regular promotions too! They often market and sell their products in bundles as well, not that we are complaining!
