10 fond memories of visiting Under Water World Singapore kids tomorrow won’t have

As most of you already know, Underwater world Singapore is closing down soon (the last day of operation on 26 June 2016) and if you have not, you should really go there to reminisce for the last time before it’s gone forever. To sweeten the deal, tickets are going at lower rates as well.

Ask any kid in Singapore what their childhood memories consist of, and most of them will probably remember a visit to Underwater World in Sentosa. After all, this is the first time any kid in Singapore can get up close and personal to sharks, dolphins, otters and other strange creatures in the deep, and we can’t keep our eyes off the walls of the tunnel, running from one end to another because it’s so frigging exciting.

If you feel the same way, you’ll probably be devastated at the news that this iconic attraction with so many nostalgic memories is ceasing operations for good. Let’s take a walk down memory lane and revisit 10 fond memories of Underwater World that kids in the future will not get.

One of the first attractions in Sentosa
Underwater World was like the cool place to visit at Sentosa before there was RWS, sea aquarium and so on. It had us all going “Wow” when we first visited, walking through the tunnel to experience being “under” the marine life and staring at the scary sharks bumping against the window. Cool!

Watch the dolphins perform
We’re all going to miss these dolphins, they’re the sweetest creatures! The dolphins at Underwater World are intelligent and well trained. We’ll always hear somebody going “Woahhhh” when the dolphins do some brilliant stunts.

Sea lion performance
These little animals are so cute you’ll melt. Similar to the dolphins, the sea lions are well trained and smart. They’ll make the audience laugh so hard when they try to tease their trainers or purposely fail their “missions.”

Watch the divers
The divers doing their jobs will simply inspire you to take up a diving course. You’ll be “I should become a diver and care for the marine life.” At least until you grew up.

Nurse sharks
Most of the sharks you see in Underwater world are actually nurse sharks. You’ll know when you see them because they’re all piled up on each other on the sea floor near the reefs as if they were dead.

Feed puffy goldfish for $1
If you look around you’ll find the tanks of chubby goldfish waiting for people to purchase the food to feed them for $1.

Touch pool to interact with puffer fish and stingray
There are touch pools around for visitors to interact with these fishes–I mean touch. You can’t really communicate with fishes, can you?

Kindergarten excursions
If you’ve been on one before you will definitely know this. How cool is it that their excursions comprise of staying there overnight?

Otters
You can get to see cute otters as well at the Underwater world, not just marine life.

Peacocks
Nobody knows where they came from, but they’re always there on the grass patches outside the Underwater world. Will they be abandoned outside the empty Underwater world once it closes?
