Pasir Ris isn’t just for your class chalet or for the rite-of-passage ferry trip to Tekong. And no, it isn’t just the “end of the MRT line”, or where you bounce if you are that desperate for an MRT seat. There are many other things you can do in Pasir Ris. Here are some…

1. Pasir Ris Park
Your less-crowded, more peaceful alternative to East Coast Park. You can get your cycling fix here as well. There are two bicycle rental kiosks or you can just BYOB (bring your own bike). Additionally, there is a Maze Garden where you can play hide-and-seek (or Running Man games, since that seems to be cooler now). On foot, venture into the 6-hectare mangrove forest and enjoy the unique flora and fauna there. You’ll probably be able to find quite a number of crabs there. Look out for the Tree Climbing Crab, which can climb as high as 6m to escape to avoid the tide waters and predators lurking in there. This crab is also known as the Singapore Vinegar Crab because it, erm, tastes good with vinegar.

2. Pasir Ris Fishing Pond
Conveniently located next to the MRT, it is a sure-catch fishing pond where you can try catching many different kinds of sea animals– fishes, prawns, lobsters, crabs etc. There is also a restaurant located there.

3. Wild Wild Wet
It seems like this place has fallen off the radar, after the introduction of Adventure Cove. Do you still remember the Ular-lah? There’s also the newer Torpedo, which propels you up to 70km/h through this ride that starts with a free-fall.  Not for the faint-hearted.

4. Pasir Ris Swimming Complex
A kid-friendly water playground in the East, it has three slides, some water fountains/buckets and jacuzzi pool. It is open every day except Wednesdays.

Have you been to these places before?
