10 kiddy things we as adults can do to take stress off our fast-paced life

We couldn’t wait to grow up when we were kids, then we wish that we could become kids again after we realised how much adult life sucked. Well, it might be a good thing to actually start doing some of the things we used to do as a kid again, because many of those things actually do help us to feel better after a long, hard day’s work.

Drink less coffee
I know you might not be able to function very well without that cuppa in the morning, but you might want to replace it with something more familiar to your childhood; juice, Milo or milk is a way better option, and you’re probably better off trying to kick the caffeine addiction.

Colouring books
Colouring stuff isn’t just for kids; it can be an extremely therapeutic and enjoyable experience as an adult. Of course, those kiddy colouring books might not make the cut for you right now. Give Secret Garden a try.

Start napping
I’ve always wondered why we stopped napping if we always did so as a child. Taking a quick nap in the afternoon is actually good for us and helps recover some of our concentration and focus to last until the end of the working day, but try not to get caught doing so in the office.

Play sports for fun
I’m sure many of us, especially the boys, have always simply joined in the crowd at the basketball or street soccer court as a child for a bit of action. Why have we stopped doing so, and get a good workout at the same time?

Hang out with your friends without the mobile phones
If you’ve spent your childhood already glued to a screen then this might not really apply to you, but I hope you’re not that unfortunate and actually have experienced a proper childhood playing with other kids. Do it.

Bubble bath
Although this is probably not applicable to every one of us since we don’t all have bathtubs, a quick staycation would give you access to one; and a bubble bath wouldn’t hurt. Of course, you could try getting into that small plastic tub you used as a small kid, but don’t fault us if you have to call the Civil Defence to save you.

Ask questions
We always knew that kids were pesky because they asked the darnest questions; but it was really fun, and we were genuinely interested to find the answer. We have stopped asking questions because we’re either too busy just doing things, or just too cynical to do so. Try it.

Watch cartoons
Relive a bit of your childhood and watch some cartoons for a light-hearted evening of fun and laughter. Nothing beats good old Tom and Jerry.

Read a bedtime story
Instead of watching a screen, try reading an actual book before you sleep. It’s way less strenuous and doesn’t stimulate your brain so much, so you’ll probably get a much better rest at night.

Don’t care about what others think
When we were kids, we couldn’t really care less about what other people thought of us – our imagination was our limit, and even a walloping couldn’t kill our enthusiasm. Then why are we so afraid of doing the things we want because we think everyone else is watching. Unwind and relax for a change.
