There’s chicken wings, and then THERE’S chicken wings. Whenever I think of a basketful of these fellas, I get giddy with joy.

They’re my favorite part of chicken. I love biting into crunchy fried wings and its seasonings. It’s followed by just the right amount of meat. Stripping the bones clean is the best ending to each wing.

Alright, time to leave la-la land and get back to planet earth. I’m going to share with you my top 10 hideouts for the best chicken wings in JB.

Bob’s Kitchen, Skudai
You’d get 4 pieces of chicken wings served to you with a side of sour cream. The wings are deep fried and coated with their signature hot sauce. Spicy food lovers will definitely dig this!

Kampung Café, Segamat
The chicken wings here are mixed with mashed potato and its coating is a secret that only the chef knows (sigh). Totally worth the drive to Segamat. The café itself has been run by the family since 1964.

Tian Lai Restaurant Seafood, Gelang Patah
You’d be in sweet rhapsody with the sweet chicken wings from this place. I’m not kidding. As the name says, the barbecued chicken wings are coated with a unique sweet sauce that’s one of a kind.

Annie’s BBQ Chicken Wings, Meldrum Walk
Head over to downtown Johor Bahru and look out for an auntie who’s working a mean looking BBQ pit. Her main item is her chicken wings. She’s perfected it right down to an art. The wings are juicy and tender, with a welcomed smoky aftermath.

Hong Kee BBQ Chicken, Cedar Point Food Centre, Taman Century
This stall’s been around for 30 years now. They perfectly charred chicken wings are more savory than the usual sweet-tasting BBQ wings. I kind of like these more. Mr Hong serves them up with a squeeze of lime and a plate of chili sauce.

Sin Kimdo, Taman Sentosa
You can’t pass by this place without catching a whiff of its awesome BBQ aroma. They offer a variety of other skewed items too – squid, shrimp, mushroom and even petai! You might have to wait a bit for your wings, but it is totally worth it.

Barra Groove, Jalan Bukit Meldrum
The place to go to if you want to enjoy spicy chicken wings in a quiet spot.

Restoran Chua Kee, Gelang Patah
Their honey-coated grilled chicken wings. If you look for it, you’ll catch the tinge of lime in its marinade.

Just Want Coffee, Mount Austin
Their Korean take on chicken wings is delectable, and I’d visit again just to get another plateful.

Matterhon Bistro, Johor Jaya
They are known for reasonably priced steak cuts, but their fried chicken wings here are pretty yummy too!
