As Singaporeans, we all love to save time and make the most out of it. If we want to go somewhere, there’d better be enough things for us to do and our kiasu-ism just makes us want to have a back-up plan in case Plan A fails. So here, we have come up with a list of MRT stations with at least two malls, so if you find one boring, you can go to the next one within a 5mins walking distance!
Tampines
Near the Tampines MRT station, you have three huge malls – Tampines Mall, Tampines 1 and Century Square. This guarantees that you won’t have a lack of entertainment. If you want to watch a movie, you even have two theatres’ worth of timings to choose from so you will never have to worry about the lack of seats.
Jurong
For the Westies, we have the next upcoming CBD. JCube, JEM and Westgate are the three major malls in the vicinity. Although it’s still not that comparable to Orchard MRT station (we did say it is up-and-coming), all the big brand names such as H&M, Uniqlo and even Isetan have set up stores here.
Orchard
When it comes to the number of shopping malls, no MRT station even comes close to Orchard. Just off the top of our heads, Ion, Ngee Ann City, Wisma Atria and Wheelock Place are within reach. Those alone are enough to let you shop till you drop. If you are willing to walk a bit more for cheap deals, Lucky Plaza and Far East Plaza are within reach too.
Somerset
This MRT station has no less than 4 malls within less than 5mins walking distance – 313 Somerset, TripleOne Somerset, Orchard Central and Cathay Cineleisure.
Dhoby Ghaut
Plaza Singapura is probably big enough for you to spend at least a few hours there, but if you are feeling energetic, take a short 3mins walk to The Cathay Cineplex nearby.
Bugis
The hip and happening Kampong Glam area might be a tad far, but no worries – you have two big malls within reach. Bugis+ and Bugis Junction are the two big malls there. If you are on a budget, Bugis Village is also nearby.
Novena
You might be surprised, but Novena has three of the biggest malls we have seen in the vicinity of the North – Velocity, Square 2 and United Square. The latter is more family-friendly so parents can bring their kids there for a day of fun while also enjoying some quality time together.
City Hall
The CBD area MRT station has three malls – Raffles City, City Link mall and Marina Square Shopping Mall. If you are looking for a quiet time spent in an atas setting, look no further than these malls. Also, the Esplanade is just a stone’s throw away.
Clementi
Yet again another proud Westie MRT station, Clementi Mall and City Vibes hold the fort here. Cityvibes might have a much more heartland feel, but it does win our hearts for pocket-friendly eats.
Harbourfront
Finally, we have the MRT station with the largest shopping mall in the whole of Singapore – Vivocity. However, did you know that Harbourfront Centre just right next to it also houses shops and food options? If you want to go to the beach, the boardwalk is accessible from this station too.
