The holidays coming soon! Or at least for those who are still going to school. For the working folks, you can take a holiday whenever you set aside time for it.
So I have categorised 10 events into Austerity, Average and Atas. May you have an A-star June.
Don’t Worry, We’ll Keep It Low-SES
We’ll start off if your budget is between $0 – $15, because not everyone has deep pockets. Some of us are young, dumb and broke. Some of us work in Goody Feed that pays so little, we’re making a loss just by commuting to the office.
So here are some activities that you can do!
1. Pulau Ubin
The ferry to Pulau Ubin only costs $6 for a round trip. There aren’t many food options there, so you can simply pack your own food there. For the rest of the day, you can laze around, get a nice tan and appreciate nature on the Island.
2. Science Centre
No, the science centre is not just for primary school kids. Some people brush off the idea of the science centre because it is for children. But that is not true. The science centre actually has some pretty cool exhibitions and nice photo opportunities for your Instagram!
Of course, the only problem is that it’s located in the far west of Singapore, so if you live in the east, read on bah.
3. Stargazing
If you have no time to go to the science centre in the day, you can go to the science centre in the night.
Stargazing is free and open for all every Friday. It is pretty cool. If you are interested, you can check the calendar here.
You can sign up here for a special guided tour. First come first serve!
4. LIT Discovery Symposium
Some of us are just trying to find our place in this world.
Be inspired by successful business owners and ministers! Learn how they paved their way to success. There will be speakers from DBS, Love Bonito, Microsoft and more! You can read up more on this event happening on 1 June here.
Who knows? This symposium could be what will change the course of your life forever.
5. Pinnacle @ Duxton
Looking for a nice quiet place to relax and escape from the busy city life? For an entry fee of $6, you can enter the rooftop of this residential building.
Now, you’re thinking, what if I can afford to pay a little more? After all, I don’t want my partner to complain about me not spending on him or her.
Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.
Mid-SES
Budget: $15- $40
6. Watch a play
Want to feel educated and classy? You can check out plays in Singapore for $25! You get to watch live acting and still have some money for a meal.
Coming up in the month of June, there are three plays that you can check out: The Merchant of Venice, Hamlet and Othello. Perfect for Shakespeare’s fan!
7. Chope
Chope is an app that allows you to make reservations at dining outlets.
I love Chope (not because they’re our client). This is because it allows you to access pricey cafes or restaurants for less! All you have to do is purchase a voucher for the restaurants available. What’s more, you can earn points for each booking!
Plus, if you’re super free or just decide to take leave for a day out with your loved one, check out their off-peak period dining vouchers. Less crowd, better quality food at cheaper prices.
8. Art Science Museum
The Art Science Museum is my favourite museum in Singapore. This is because they have the best exhibitions.
Here is a secret, if you go to the museum on the third Thursday of each month after 7 pm, you will get a 1 for 1 ticket!
In June, you can fall into the rabbit hole with Alice in Wonderland!
9. Goat farm
Get up close and personal with goats! Don’t worry, they don’t drink water like that.
There is a free and easy tour available even for walk-ins.
The only thing that you will have to pay for is hay to feed the goats and to drink some goat milk.
Goat also stands for Greatest Of All Time! So head on down and have a goat time!
High-SES
Budget: the sky is the limit
10. Indoor Skydiving
Want to do skydiving but you are scared of dying? Maybe you can start with indoor sky diving first! It is a controlled environment that gives you the thrill of skydiving! Check out more here! Do note that you need to book at least two days in advance.
Here is a picture of our Speaker of the House Tan Chuan Jin trying it!
