Here are 10 places that you can still go on a picnic in Singapore and enjoy the outdoor treats of fresh air and nice view.

Bukit Timah Railway
The Green Corridor at Bukit Timah Railway is a little hidden gem away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is a place less visited by the general public and definitely not well-known to the tourists. You can enjoy quiet times here as you walk hand-in-hand to search for the perfect spot to lay down the blanket for a great picnic. Just the two of you. How romantic!

How to get here: Walk from The Rail Mail which is located along Upper Bukit Timah Road.

Hort Park
There is a vast lawn available here in which you can spread your blanket to enjoy food with sunshine and greenery. It is really beautiful when the weather is fine and there is nothing more relaxing than a cup of tea with beautiful flowers all around you. You can also attend workshops or talks to learn more about plantings and flowers. Come dress pretty and take plenty of photographs to keep the memory fresh on your mind.

Chinese and Japanese Gardens
If you stay in the West or do not mind journeying to the far West, these two gardens are the best places you can bring your bae. These gardens are located in the Jurong Lake and connected by a beautiful overpass called the Bridge of Double Beauty. The Chinese gardens resembles a scene out of an Asian movie, with pagodas and replica of Imperial Gardens dotting the area. There is even a replica of the stone boat found in the Summer Palace in Beijing. The Japanese garden boasts of marble-chip walkways, stone lanterns and a pond. The pond area is also a popular spot for huge monitor lizards. In recent years, these gardens are linked to the newly renovated Jurong Lake Garden, making the grounds much bigger for you to explore and lay down that blanket for a picnic surrounded by flowers and greenery.

Hindehede Nature Park
If you like a quiet and private picnic, head to the Hindehede Park located at the Bukit Timah Hill. It is a scenic spot boasting of an old quarry that was active in its days. The Nature Park Lawn is a perfect place for you to lay down the blanket for the picnic while enjoying the view of the quarry in its full glory.

Singapore Botanic Gardens
This is a hot spot for couples and families to enjoy a picnic on a Sunday afternoon so it is not a good choice if you want somewhere exclusive. The Singapore Botanic Gardens is home to an extensive collection of orchids and plants and there is also plenty of greenery for your admiration. There are lots of green space for you to spread out your blanket to enjoy the sun and fresh air. If you find the weather a little too hot, you can move to one of their strategically placed pavilions to cool off. The Shaw Symphony Stage also presents melodious tunes from the Singapore Symphony Orchestra on Sundays.

Marina Barrage
This is another popular place for a picnic as you can do various activities here. It is common to see people flying kites or playing Frisbees at the open area found at the top of the barrage. The view here is especially beautiful as the whole city spreads out before you. It is a great place to lay down the blanket and chill out from late afternoon to night as the view is much better in the night.

Broadway at Marina Bay
The Broadway at Marina Bay wounds around the most scenic view of the Singapore CBD and our majestic MBS. Pick a spot away from the crowds and spread out your blanket to enjoy a romantic dinner for two without throat-cutting prices of the nearby restaurants. You get the same views but you do not have to pay the price. What is there not to love about this spot?

Roofttop of Esplanade
This is a spot popular with the youths and younger couples to hang out. It hosts beautiful greenery and have a fantastic view of the city area. It is also quiet at night and is perfect for a picnic. You can have a front seat to the view of the city and yet not be disturbed by the crowds that usually ply romantic spots in the city area.

Punggol Waterfront Park
If you do not like all the town areas mentioned above, there is a gem in the heartlands hidden away in the north-eastern part of Singapore. The Punggol Waterfront Park houses 4 different themes and you can enjoy various activities here. Spread out your blanket and sit back to enjoy the breeze. There are various species of birds to be found here as well so look out for them while relaxing yourself. The park is also big so you can enjoy cycling or kick-scooting before settling down for the picnic.

Kranji Reservoir Park
The other heartland hidden gem is the Kranji Reservoir Park in the northern part of Singapore. It is home to a stunning full view of the Johor Straits and house lush green trees with great canopies. There are also two fishing grounds and pavilions set along the scenic backdrop. You can choose to spread your blanket along the waterfront or in one of the pavilions and enjoy the view.
