“You drank alone last night? Are you okay?” might be a response that you get when you tell others about your solo drinking. However, there is nothing wrong with it at all. Spending time with yourself and a good glass of alcoholic drink is one of life’s greatest enjoyment and we’re here to tell you why.

You can drink at your own pace
There is no one to rush you, no closing of the bar and no last transportation to catch.

The alcohol taste better
You absorb the story of a book better by reading alone than in a crowded and noisy room. The same goes for drinking. With no distractions around, you can start to savour the deep aroma and taste of the drink.

It calms your mind and soul
The alcohol slowly relaxes you and eases away your stress and tension. It’s ok if your boss scolded you in the afternoon or that you quarrelled with your girlfriend/boyfriend; as long as you have alcohol by your side, nothing else matters.

You feel at peace with the world
This must be how the Dalai Lama feels all the time.

It might help you be more creative
As ironic as it sounds, it’s true. The booze relaxes you and uplifts your spirit. This reduces the boundaries that you subconsciously set in your mind and makes you feel like you can do anything. Many artists and writers have had their eureka moments with a glass of wine or beer.

You don’t have to constantly hear people saying “Ta!”
Hearing this means that you will have to finish up whatever is left in your glass. It’s the highway to “merlion-ing (vomiting)” and knocking out.

You’re the bartender
Drinking along means you get to drink exactly what you want. It’s hard to do this in public because of social norms, face or to impress business clients. You might be downing a shot of tequila when all you really want is a cosmopolitan.

If you do get drunk, no one will see your unglamourous drunken state
Your drunkard dance and sleeping on the toilet bowl activities are safe with yourself.

You save money
You only pay for one person and that’s yourself. No more feeling obligated to treat your friends or colleagues to drinks.

There is no one to please but yourself
Lastly, you don’t have to care whether your clients are happy or whether your friends are having a great time. There’s one person that’s having fun tonight and that’s you!
