There’s been days in my life when I dread waking up. I feel sluggish and like an incoherent fool. I can’t sleep at night and my IBS is getting me all wacked up.
Little did I realize that I was under a great amount of stress. Yes, that one word I never thought I’d ever word associate with myself. Stress.
These are the major indications for great stress. If you experience any of these symptoms, it’s time to take a step back and re-access your life.
Overly Exhausted
You slept for 9 hours, and still feel tired when you wake up. This could be a sign of clinical exhaustion. As stress drains your body of your energy, your body is working on overdrive. Thanks to that, a night of rest isn’t enough to recharge yourself.
Insomnia
You have a hard time getting yourself to sleep at night. Your brain wants to think about so many things, that your body is still set on the “overdrive” mode. Less sleep causes you to feel more exhausted the following day. How this affects your stress load? It’s about to go even higher.
Falling Sick Every Other Time
Once again, as your body is on overdrive while on stress, it makes it harder for it to recover from minute illnesses. Fighting off the smallest bout of cold seems like WW2 all over again. Your immune system is down by almost 30% when you’re all stressed up.
Forgetfulness
Juggling too many things at one time on your mind can make you absent-minded. You’ll find it hard to keep pace with the smaller things. Imagine missing a date with your girl all because you had a meeting scheduled the same night, and you forgot to tell her. Now that’s a recipe for disaster!
No Interest in Sex
Yikes, but sadly it’s true. Your sex drive goes downhill when you’re stressed.
On an Emotional Rollercoaster
You’ll be just like a pregnant woman and have an emotional muddle to deal with every day.
Body and Head Aches
The aftereffects of stress is fatigue, which takes a physical toll on your body. Get a body massage to alleviate all those pains and aches, and relax your mind in the process.
Feeling Dizzy and Faint
Stress can cause dizziness and make you faint. Worse cases include anxiety attacks. Stop any of these from happening by taking a few deep breaths.
Tummy Problems
Nausea, stomach aches and even diarrhea can be triggered by stress. I kid you not.
Short Term Solutions
You binge eat or take a beer the moment you get home. It calms you down for the moment, but you’re back to the same level of stress the next day.
My advice is to get involved in yoga, meditation or even the gym to burn those stresses away.
