Are you from the National University of Singapore? Well here are 10 realest shits that all students would definitely know, or encounter.

Internal Shuttle Bus Services
If you’re an NUS Student and have classes in UTown, you know the insane crowd at the UTown bus stop. Tip to avoid the peak period, which is about 9.40am, and 11.40am, try to arrive at the bus stop earlier, say 9.20am, and pray that the shuttle bus services arrives. Or if you are kiasu, go as near to the road as possible.

The freaking stairs
We all know that NUS is not built on flat land, and the lifts are built only at selected places. If you’re an arts student, good luck trying to get from one end of the faculty to the other: the number of stairs you have to climb is probably higher than your CAP. Walau.

Hall life
They always say Hall life is Rabak life. According to NUS students, different halls have different culture, be it the ‘Clubbing and drinking’ culture, or the ‘Mug in your room’ culture.

Residential College life
Residential college life is a huge contrast to hall life–its buildings are newer and taller, and the environment too supports a 24/7 lifestyle. Located conveniently in UTown, there’s the 24/7 cheers and Starbucks to satisfy midnight cravings, or an espresso shot at 3 am.

All hail the BELL CURVE GOD
NUS grades their students on a bell curve system, much like how A levels are graded. This means that if you are smart, that’s good, but if you’re smarter, that’s awesome. This results in high competition among your module mates, but if you want to pay respects to the bell curve god, there’s a website for you to burn virtual incense.

The lack of shelter
You can avoid stairs by walking from one building to another by skirting around the building, but that also means you’ll get no shelter from the weather which you wouldn’t want to encounter right before your exams. NUS is a pretty old university, and definitely lacks sheltered walkways. Sian.

FRUIT JUICES
One of the more famous stalls common in all canteen is the fruit juice stall. Famous ones include the stalls at Techno Edge, Science Canteen, and the one at Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences with its never-ending queue.

24 hour MacDonalds
In the middle of School of Design and Environment and Faculty of Engineering is the glorious MacDonald’s. This is the location for design students who often burn the midnight oil to get a quick bite.

The Study at ERC
The Study at ERC features numerous cubicles for those who want a quiet conducive environment to study in. Watch out for those who leave their belongings at the cubicles for a long time! They can be annoying.

Cheap food
Having cheap food is definitely one of the best perks of being a student in NUS. Cai png can go as low as $2 for 3 vegetables, definitely a stark contrast with food outside the university.
