There was once upon a time where we all ate rice without thinking twice. When I say rice, I mean the refined, white fragrant rice that we all love. But as you grow older, you start to realise that the delicious staple you ate almost everyday actually contains a heck load of carbs that can be the cause of your weight gain. But you can’t seem unable to cut rice out of your diet at all. If you’re a hardcore lover of rice, you’ll understand the pain of not eating rice.
Trying to cut down on rice is almost the same as asking you to eat salad all day.
Yes, you understand that it’s full of carbs and all that nonsense, but…. How can anyone resist that mouth-watering goodness? It is almost impossible to eat meat and vegetables without rice, I mean, come on.
Part of you just wish that rice didn’t contain that much carbs
If only rice was as healthy as eating salad. Damn, you would be eating rice all day everyday. You wouldn’t even mind just eating rice alone.
Indulging on rice is your guilty pleasure
While most people indulge in chocolate and sweets, your guilty pleasure if eating more than one serving of rice. And most of the time, you usually do.
The smell of rice just makes your mouth water
Whenever you walk past restaurants or coffee shops, your nose is somehow attuned to the smell of rice. You ALWAYS smell it everywhere you go.
You would work out extra hard at the gym just to compensate for eating rice
If running one hour means that you get to eat 3 servings of rice, you will damn well run one hour. Rice is your life, and there’s no way that you’ll cut that out of your diet.
It’s all about ‘one more scoop’
Every single time you ask tasked to scoop your portion of rice, for some odd reason, you can never stop at just one scoop. You’ll find yourself scooping another and another and soon your entire plate is just filled with rice.
That said, you always feel self conscious when you’re eating with friends
We all have friends who will order a plate of rice packed with ingredients, but when they’re done with their food, you realise that a whole chunk of rice are left untouched. And it takes all the self-control in you to not finish up the rice for them.
You try to convince yourself that rice is healthy
Well, technically rice is a staple that is sort of healthy. It does contain nutritional value, but it also has a high glycemic index, which causes it to break down into sugar. Too much sugar for your body can lead to diabetics. It’s all about eating in moderation.
You settle for brown rice instead
In order to satisfy your cravings for white rice, you opt for a healthier alternative. In this case, brown rice. But let’s be real, brown rice taste nowhere as good as white rice. Healthier options are never as good, that’s the cold hard truth.
As much as you try, you’ll never give rice up
Even if that means eating half a portion, rice will always be a staple that’ll remain in your life for years to come. It’s something that you can never give up, and you are perfectly fine being the way you are. It doesn’t matter that it contains a heck load of carbs because rice is your life.
