Some people hate cruise, because it’s like a half-f*** vacation: you exit the country but might not have entered another country. In fact, you won’t even get a “chop” on your passport simply because you’re essentially just out of Singapore (unless you disembark somewhere).
But going on a cruise is still an essential experience, simply because it’s not just lazing in a big ship—but something more.
It’s the best respite from work
You know why? Because of this: you won’t even have any reception. After all, you’re not in any country, so you can’t have a connection. Take that, boss!
The meals are free
Well, to some extent. When you go for a cruise, there would be some restaurants that are free for all passengers. In other words, you need not bring extra money for meals!
You get to see the sea in its purest form
Unless you’re going to Batam, any overseas trip (other than Malaysia, of course) would require you to fly, and you won’t get to see the sea. In a cruise ship, you get to see the sea right below you, and the strong currents of the sea. It’s an experience that you won’t forget.
You get to sleep in “cabins” instead of hotel rooms
The experience in a cruise ship is not confined to the facilities in the ship, but the cabin itself. Just imagine this: you and your partner kissing as you look out of the window, seeing and hearing the currents of the sea. If that’s not romantic enough, then…
You can do a “Jack & Rose” Titanic scene
…this will be romantic enough. You’re on the top of the ship, and in front of you is nothing but the sea. Of course you won’t be able to stand so near to the edge, but hey, standing close to it is good enough, eh?
You get to hear the sounds of a ship
From it moving to the loud honk, you can hear everything. It just makes you feel like a sailor, doesn’t it?
The casino
Okay, for the uninitiated, here’s the thing: as the cruise ship is out of Singapore sea and on an area that is not occupied by any country, there’s no law that states that gambling is illegal, so there’s a casino that is usually open at midnight. In fact, some people go for a cruise simply because of the casino!
There’re so many facilities, you can’t visit all in one trip
Really. #truestory
It has numerous Instagram-worthy places
Just Google and you’ll understand. And we’ve not even included selfies at the outdoor deck yet.
You can view how a large ship is operated
I’m not sure about other cruise ships, but in Star Cruise, you can go to a relatively hidden area whereby you get to know more about the ship, and see the bridge of the ship through a clear windowpane. One word to describe the experience: COOL.
The “reserved seat” has been abused by people who seek validation in their lives. Agree or disagree?
