Do you hate going to zoos? Have you even been to our one and only zoo in Singapore? If you haven’t, you need to. Especially if you have kids or if you’ve run out of ideas on where to go for your next date with your significant other. The journey to get to the zoo may be troublesome, but it’s worth the trip!

World’s Best Rainforest Zoo
That’s right. The Singapore Zoo holds that title because our zoo has a beautiful setting with over 300 species of animals. Our Zoo also houses endangered species. Who knew that Singapore’s zoo is on the same tier as Changi Airport, which has been voted Best Airport in the world for a couple of years?

New Ah Meng
The legendary Ah Meng passed away some time ago, but now we have a new Ah Meng in the house zoo. Ah Meng’s granddaughter Ishta has officially taken over as the Ah Meng of the zoo because Ishta was said to have similar looks and qualities to the former Ah Meng. So if your reason for not going is because Ah Meng’s not there anymore (like one of the writer in the office), well you have no excuse now.

Horse carriage ride
We have trishaw rides in Bugis but not horse carriage rides on Singapore’s streets. While there are such rides available in public areas overseas, the zoo is the only place that you can get to ride in a horse carriage in Singapore. Just pay $6 per person and off you go! Broke and looking to romance your girlfriend? Get her on this carriage ride then!

Unique Toilets
Yes, we have Singapore’s Restroom Association, and it’s said that the World Toilet is started by Singapore as well. Given that we’re probaby the foremost authority on all things toilet related, you probably won’t be surprised to know that the toilets in the Singapore Zoo was featured on Animal Planet TV for it’s unique design. You’ll feel like you’re answering nature’s call when you take your business in the toilet. Literally.

Animals mating
The baboons more specifically. I’ve been there a couple of times and you will never not see a baboon mating. The baboons go at it several times and they’re usually in heat. So if you’re in the mood for something belonging to the adult category, chances are you’ll be able to scratch that itch at their exhibition.

Free roaming animals
Only in Night Safari can you get to go up close to animals. Well, more like, those animals will approach you while you’re on the tram. Last time I went, there was a tapir lying down on the ground and simply lazing around.

Breakfast with Orang Utans
It is indeed a novel experience where you can dine with nature. For $35 per adult and $25 per child, you can have a hearty breakfast with the company of the hairy friends and perhaps the smell of faeces.

Farm Animals
At Kidzworld, there is a small petting zoo where there are rabbits, guinea pigs and ponies for your kids to interact with. If your kid is scared of Omar, the white tiger, they’ll be more than happy to stick around with the white bunnies instead.

Singapore may be boring, but not THAT boring. Check out the Zoo this weekend!
