10 shits we’ll never forget about the morning bus commute to school daily

Crowded trains are no longer uncommon in Singapore, what more crowded buses? The government has been encouraging us to make use of public transport so much that we’d just rather stay at home or wake up even earlier to catch the first few buses. Having lived in the West and schooling in the East, my morning bus commute was a total nightmare. What more, I had to take three buses. Meh.

Having to miss a bus or two or three
It just makes your blood boil. Especially when you left home early just so that you can reach work earlier. No chance at all!

A seat is a blessing
Truly truly a blessing It’s even more of a blessing if someone gives up a seat for you. Makes your morning.

Sweaty bodies
The stench is unbearable, you’ll wonder if these people actually bathed before they left home.

Selfish people
You know, those people who push you in even though there is no more space…

Sleepy heads
Everyone’s busy sleeping; especially when they see an elderly or child come on board.

Stepping on someone else
Too common. You end up smiling sheepishly while your victim glares at you.

Helping to tap each other’s cards
Not sure if you people do experience it but I did and it was the sweetest thing ever. Sometimes people have to board from the back and since they can’t tap at the exit, they will pass their cards to the front for it to be tapped.

Bags in your face
Bags, bags bags. If you are lucky enough to get a sit but unlucky enough to sit on the outside seat, your face will be greeted by lots of bags.

“Move back please!”
It’s not the bus driver who says this, but those who desperately want to get on.

The relief when you get to your stop
Ahhhh, finally. You’ve survived the ordeal. Congratulations.
