10 Things you probably didn’t know about the LTA and the Sgt Major in Descendant of the Sun

Besides the love line between the two Songs – Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo, there is also another equally eye-catching couple in the Descendant of the Sun. The sergeant, portrayed by actor Jin Goo, is constantly running away from his girlfriend of a higher rank, portrayed by actress Kim Ji-won. Both of them are actually pretty established actors in their own right, and we wouldn’t find a better secondary couple to root for while the main couple is getting too mushy for our tastes!

The actor is already married.
Damn. He has been married to a non-celebrity since 2014. We can hear the groans of fangirls out there. Don’t worry, we feel you too. Now, we can only hang on to Song Joong Ki.

He was the last one to be casted.
The producers told him that there wasn’t any roles left for him when he requested for one. When they later got back to him to tell him that he was casted for the role, he couldn’t believe it at first.

Jin Goo performed in a musical before.
He debuted in the musical scene in a Korean production of Guys and Dolls. Well, we guess this guy is indeed multi-talented. He has both the vocals and the looks.

He has portrayed a military character before.
He was a staff sergeant in the Northern Limit Line, a Korean military action movie. No wonder he was excellent at portraying his sergeant character in DotS!

He has the same name as another actor.
A much younger actor by the name of Yeo Jin Goo is equally famous and a rising star in his own right. However, Jin Goo is his full name, which is rare in Korea as Koreans rarely have two syllable names.

There is a 12 years age gap between Jin Goo and Kim Ji-Won.
Although they look like a perfect couple, in reality, both of them have a huge age gap between them. We are still rooting for them anyway!

DotS changed their lives.
The drama propelled Jin Goo, who is usually a supporting actor, into the limelight. Kim Ji-won also claimed that she would be using the drama as a future reference for all her upcoming acting roles.

She was propelled into the limelight in 2011.
She took on the female leading role and starred opposite Kang Daesung of Big Bang and Lim Ju-Hwan of Boys over Flowers fame. She was also acting alongside current big names such as male Korean supermodel Lee Soo Hyuk.

She was also casted as a chaebol (rich kid) in The Heirs.
She acted as Yoo Rahael, a slightly bitchy and spoilt girl who was in an arranged marriage with Lee Minho’s character. Why does this girl get all the luck?

She starred in a commercial with Big Bang before.
In 2010, she was chosen as Big Bang’s Lollipop girl, representing the LG phone. Many netizens commented that her looks were refreshing and pretty enough!
