They entered the nutrition industry because they love food, not guidelines about food
Though they are trained professionally to give food advice as a career, most nutritionists entered the industry due to their love for food. One such nutritionist even said that in their profession, they like food so much, they celebrate with food. She even went to culinary school before deciding to teach people about food instead of cooking.
They don’t eat healthy all the time too
You might have the impression of them being all strict and are probably restricting themselves in their personal life. But nope, you may be surprised to see them slurping up a chocolate fudge covered ice cream cone and being happy about it.
They aren’t interested in judging your diets and food lifestyle
They are not there to judge you, but rather to help you. Some clients, out of fear, ended up not telling their nutritionist the whole truth.
Clients who are big on nutrition are actually the hardest to deal with
Some clients may have the most information researched and know all the big words regarding food and nutrition but they’re the hardest to deal with. Because they just don’t listen. At all.
Banning your favourite food isn’t what they’ll ask you to do.
Of course, they’ll ask you to eat more fruits and vegetables but if you think that they’ll make you avoid your favourite food at all cost, you’re partly right and wrong. Though it’s true that certain foods may be the cause of any issues to your nutrition, lifestyle and body, it is said that nutritionists wouldn’t force you to stop eating certain foods entirely, but rather in proportions.
Not only helping with food, they can help with your feelings too
Also seemingly like a food psychiatrist, nutritionists are there to help you with any feelings you have about food. We’re not just saying about how much you love and how dear you crave them.
Some customers who are insecure about their bodies are able to seek help in nutritionists to talk about issues relating to food with their bodies. A painful subject to some, we’re glad that nutritionists are there to help them.
They know when you’re avoiding the topic or not making any progress
After years of experience, some nutritionists said that it’s usual for them to “see through” their clients when they try to avoid any topics, including not following the given diet plan, drinking more than usual during their weekend or when they had not made any progress in reaching their goal.
They don’t want to talk about nutrition when they’re off work
When their positions are known, many people tend to approach them to get free advice on how to eat best or what diets are the quickest ways to shed excess weight. It’s not that they would rather earn your money while giving advice. It’s just that they rather talk about any other topics when they’re not at work.
They don’t want to argue which diet is the best
Filled with many varieties of information and diets, nutritionists rather not argue with you on which diet is the very best. It all depends on each body’s type, lifestyle and nutrition intake.
They don’t want to help people with crash diets but instead
Once asked on how to lose 10 pounds in the quickest way by a client to a nutritionist, the latter replied jokingly, to simply amputate a leg. As much as nutritionists want to help you, they are simply not the ones to go to for crash diets. They rather help you slowly, step by step, in achieving a healthier lifestyle while allowing you to be able to enjoy food with a confident smile on your face.
