10 ways to hide your belly because it’s just too auntie

Do you have a belly that you wish so much to hide away from the public eye? If yes, how do you keep away a belly that is cramping your style and ruining your street cred?

Here are 10 ways you can go about dealing with it.

Go for dark coloured clothing
Brighter colours attract attention and what you want is to take that attention away. Avoid wearing waist belts or anything that will bring focus to your waist and make it look bigger than it actually is.

Avoid tight garments
A no-brainer. Even supermodels try their best-est to stay away from super tight clothing unless they really have to. But if circumstances call for it and you don’t really have a choice, then may I suggest tummy tuckers, if you don’t find them uncomfortable.

Layer, layer, layer
You will be surprised at how much of your tummy can be hidden away when you layer your clothes properly. Opt for blazers, kimonos and jackets and remember that the longer the cardigan, the longer and leaner you will look too.

High waist outfits
While most of us may be comfortable with hip hanging jeans and shorts, it may be a better idea to go for high waist options to hide a bulging tummy. High waist outfits give you a tummy tuck and make your legs look longer too.

Go for outfits with pleats or ruching on the belly area
Scrunching around the belly area usually makes it seem flatter, for some reason. But of course, go for an outfit that is scrunched around the bust too so that you don’t draw too much unneeded attention to your waist. Wrap dresses and maxi dresses are also good options.

Avoid clingy fabrics
Some people may think that clingy fabrics like satin will give you a slimmer silhouette and they are so wrong. Clingy materials only make you look wider and give your figure more discredit than it deserves. Stick with flowy fabrics like cotton for a more comfortable wear and the illusion of a non-existent belly.

Peplums!
Don’t disregard peplums tops and high-waist skirts. They are fantastic when it comes to hiding away that belly. Just, don’t wear them together.

Don’t tuck in your shirts
If you have the habit of doing this whenever you don a shirt, stop. Tucking in your shirt only makes your belly stand out more than it should. Throw on a blazer to hide the belly and also spruce up your office outfit.

Asymmetrical tops
It is a well-known fact that vertical lines make you look leaner and takes attention away from your belly and bust. Pair an asymmetrical top with pencil pants or skirt and you should be good to go!

If all else fails, there is always your trusty bag
For the sake of those who claim they have tried all the tricks in the book and are still not able to hide their bulging belly, feel free to use your handbag or shoulder bag to block that unsightly belly bulge. It never disappoints.
