“Running Man”, the Korean popular variety show has been a staple for many Singaporeans in recent years. For the 3 years that it has been running, many Singaporeans have been following the show faithfully. Some of them have gone to a stage whereby they cannot survive the day without watching at least one episode of the variety show. Then the next episode and the next…it goes on and on without a break. Singaporeans can even sacrifice sleep just to watch “Running Man”. What can you do to stem the addiction and keep it in check?
Do not download new episodes into your smartphone
You cannot watch it while taking public transport if you do not download the new episodes into your smartphone. It is true that you can stream it, but with the crappy connection you get in the train, it is likely you will give up sooner or later.
Do not read any news about “Running Man” new episode release
If you do not know what it is going to be about, then you will have lesser urge to watch the new episode the moment it is released. Keep your cool and slow down the time you sit glued to the TV/PC or smartphone.
Find a new Korean drama to watch
Look for a new and interesting Korean drama to watch. It still comes from Korea and it might catch your attention enough for you not to watch “Running Man” for a week or so.
Take a sabbatical from the TV/PC
Ban yourself from watch the TV or using your PC for your YouTube addiction. This fasting from the TV/PC will help you realign yourself to reality and look at what you have been missing out in your family life while watching “Running Man”.
Read a book instead
Go to the book shop and get yourself an interesting book to read. This will retain your attention (hopefully) for a period of time and stop you from your yearning of “Running Man”.
Go for a walk instead
Sitting in front of your TV/PC while watching “Running Man” at home can be bad for health. Get healthy by going for a walk with your better half or your family. Walking helps to circulate your blood and promotes healthy living too. Do not be a couch potato anymore.
Spend time with your loved ones
Spend time with your loved ones instead of watching “Running Man”. The benefits are numerous – bonding with your family, having a healthy balance of work and play, sharing love with your other half, etc. These activities are more meaningful to have and makes you happier than watching “Running Man”.
Do something else when it is your usual “Running Man” time
Do something else on purpose when it reach the time when you usually sit down to watch “Running Man”. Breaking a habit is difficult but keep on doing it for few days and you will slowly break away from the habit.
Do something of interest to you
If you are interested in baking, bake a cake or some muffins instead of watching “Running Man”. It takes your mind off watching the show and also help you to feel less stress when you are actually doing something with your hands.
Sleep
Catch up on your beauty sleep instead. If you have been missing sleep due to your addiction on “Running Man”, then it is time for you to stop the habit and catch up on your sleep. You might be so tired that you find yourself knocking out the moment your head hit the pillow.
