I think most of us feel hurt when our parents quarrel.
Even without fully knowing the context of the fight, children are unconsciously affected by seeing their loved ones fight.
Is it my fault?
Why can’t I do anything to help?
There are more but these are some common thoughts that could run through a child’s head.
And if left unattended, sometimes affected children do rash things.
Troubling Toxicity
Things can get too much for a lone child to handle.
According to World Of Buzz, an 11-year-old girl committed suicide on 26th November by jumping out of the 39th floor.
The reason? Her parents had recently begun to quarrel a lot, likely affecting the child in the process.
You almost have to wonder how bad the quarrels were for a pre-teen child to do this.
The Vietnamese family was rather well-off and lived in Hanoi.
However, they began to quarrel a lot and this made their child extremely upset.
They even escalated it to the slamming of doors on 25 November and made the girl cry for a whole night.
I’m surprised they didn’t even check on their own kid! They were likely too angry at the moment, I assume.
Ending It All
Unfortunately, things escalated far too quickly from there.
According to China Press, the mother heard a loud noise in the middle of the night but brushed it off due to her anger and headache, going back to sleep.
The next morning, she called her daughter for breakfast but the latter did not respond.
She could not be found in her room either.
Reality set in when she heard noises out her window. Looking out, the mother saw her child lying on the floor in a pool of blood.
She was wearing her school uniform and a pair of slippers and a family portrait was found left by the window of her room.
Devastated, the mother ran down all 39-stories and broke down upon seeing her deceased child.
The father arrived at the scene half an hour later after receiving the news and grieved with his wife.
The girl’s body was then taken to the hospital where the doctors issued a death certificate.
It was really unfortunate to know that it took the death of their child for the parents to recognise the effects of their actions.
Parents, please understand that frequent quarrels will negatively affect your children and cause lots of psychological distress.
And for anyone in their household in a similar situation, I can only recommend talking this out with someone you’re comfortable with.
Better to get help and support rather than suffer in silence.
