3,190 COVID-19 Cases Reported on 13 Oct with 9 New Deaths

Well, it’s finally happened.

For three days, case numbers have dipped below the 3,000 mark, giving us hope that infections were on the decline.

As the Ministry of Health (MOH) explained, lower numbers on the first two days could be attributed to fewer tests done on the weekend.

But then we also had less than 3,000 cases the next day, and naturally, we believed cases would stay around that number.

But of course, you can never really predict anything during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cases went up once again, and sadly, more patients succumbed to the disease.

9 COVID-19 Fatalities; One Fully Vaccinated

Nine more COVID-19 cases have died from complications, bringing Singapore’s death toll to 192.

They are six men and three women, aged between 52 and 98. Six were unvaccinated against COVID-19, two were partially vaccinated, and one was fully vaccinated.

Eight of them had various underlying medical conditions while one unvaccinated case had no known medical conditions.

3,190 New COVID-19 Cases

Our case count jumped from 2,976 on Tuesday (12 Oct) to 3,190 yesterday (12 Oct), including 2,686 in the community and 498 in migrant worker dormitories.

The remaining six cases are from abroad.

Among the local cases today are 553 seniors above the age of 60.

Two Active Clusters Continue to Grow

MOH is closely monitoring two large active clusters which grew.

One is the Pasir Panjang Wholesale Centre, which swelled to 369 infections after two more cases were linked to it. Of the 369 cases, 340 are workers at the market, four are trade visitors, and 25 are household members of cases.

The other cluster is at MWS Christalite Methodist Home. With two new infections, the home now has 95 cases, comprising 84 residents and 11 staff members.

1,507 COVID-19 Patients in Hospital; 46 in ICU

At the moment, there are 1,507 COVID-19 cases warded in hospitals, most of whom are well and under observation.

300 severe cases require oxygen supplementation and 46 are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

In addition, there are 17,080 cases undergoing home recovery, 2,885 in community care facilities and 473 are in COVID-19 treatment facilities.

Of those who have passed away over the last 28 days, 24.1% were fully vaccinated and 75.9% were unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.

Vaccination Progress: 84%

Our vaccination rate has finally climbed to 84%, meaning 84% of the population has completed its vaccination regimen.

85% have received at least one dose.

At present, the health ministry has invited around 760,000 eligible individuals to receive their COVID-19 booster doses. 487,673 individuals have received their booster shots so far, and another 117,000 have booked their appointments.
