13YO Girl ‘Stepped on the Wrong Pedal’ & Reversed Van into a Drain

Every kid looks at a car and dreamed of the day when they could actually get behind the driver’s seat and go “vroom vroom” with it.

Heck, even adults who are young at heart still do this sometimes when they thought no one’s looking!

No?

Man, why no one ever relates to my experiences?

…Uhhh, goshdarnit, I mean these fictional experiences…

Anyway, this golden opportunity apparently presented itself to a 13-year-old teenage girl when her dear friend passed a pair of car keys to her.

… and she was just supposed to be picking some stuff from the van.

13YO Girl ‘Stepped on the Wrong Pedal’ & Reversed Van into a Drain

The incident happened in Telok Blangah at around 3:24pm, specifically at the parking lot of the Block 40 HDB at Telok Blangah Rise.

15-year-old Rania told the reporter from LianHe WanBao (联合晚报) that the van is owned by her uncle.

Her uncle had asked her younger sister to pick up some stuff from the van, but for some reason, she gave the car keys to her 13-year-old friend.

The friend knew both Rania and her sister and she usually plays with the siblings during their free time.

The 13-year-old climbed into the driver’s seat and started the engine.

However, as she hasn’t gone through the necessary training yet, she doesn’t know how to operate the van.

Mimicking what she thought adults do, she ended up engaging the reverse gear and stepped on the accelerator.

As a result, the van suddenly shot backwards out of its parking spot, down an approximately 4- to 5-meter-high slope, crashing through metal railings, and straight into the large drain below.

The 13-year-old friend told Rania that when the van slid backwards, she fell backwards as well.

The van only stopped moving after it got stuck in the drain.

Her glasses were knocked off in the incident, but thankfully, she wasn’t hurt and was able to climb out safely.

“They are all children”

The owner of the vehicle, 40-year-old Mr Kumar, confirmed Rania’s description of events.

He’s not angry at the girls though.

“They are all children, so I don’t really have anything to say. I only knew about the incident at around 3pm after receiving a call from the traffic police.”
