2,069 COVID-19 Cases Reported on 15 Nov With 8 New Deaths

We had quite a bit of good news yesterday:

  • we extended our Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) scheme to India, Indonesia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates
  • our weekly infection growth dropped to 0.94 from 0.97 on Sunday
  • up to five household members will be able to dine in together at some hawker centres by the end of the month
  • our daily caseload increased, but not by a large margin

If you missed the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) update on our COVID-19 situation yesterday, here’s everything you need to know:

2,069 New COVID-19 Cases

2,069 new COVID-19 cases were reported yesterday (15 Nov), an increase of 346 from the previous day’s tally.

The cases comprise 1,964 infections in the community, 101 in migrant worker dormitories, and four imported infections.

Among the local cases are 323 seniors above 60.

8 COVID-19 Fatalities 

Eight more COVID-19 cases succumbed to the virus, bringing our death toll to 594.

Aged between 71 and 96, all of them had various underlying medical conditions.

MOH Closely Monitoring 5 Large Clusters 

The Ministry of Health (MOH) is closely monitoring five large clusters with new cases, the largest of which is at Jenaris Home @ Pelangi Village, with 38 infections. 36 residents and two staff members have been infected there.

One case each was added to the clusters at Carpe Diem@ITE and at Iman Childcare in Woodgrove, taking their respective totals to 12 and 28.

Eight students have been infected at the ITE cluster, while 18 students have been infected at Iman Childcare.

Two cases were also added to the PCF Sparkletots cluster at Chong Pang Block 115B, taking its total to 14, comprising three staff members, seven students, and four household members.

The last cluster, at Jamiyah Nursing Home, grew to 18, all of whom are residents.

1,533 COVID-19 Cases in Hospital; 123 in ICU

At the moment, there are 1,533 COVID-19 cases warded in hospitals, most of whom are well and under observation.

255 serious cases require oxygen supplementation and 123 are in the intensive care unit, comprising 51 cases who are unstable and under close monitoring, and 72 who are critically ill and intubated.

Over the past seven days, the number of fully vaccinated and non-fully vaccinated cases who have been critically ill in the ICU are at 0.6 and 5.4 per 100,000 population respectively.

The same figures for seniors aged 60 and above are 2.0 and 48.7 respectively.

Over the same period, the number of fully vaccinated and non-fully vaccinated cases who died are 0.1 and 0.7 per 100,000 population respectively.

The same figures for seniors aged 60 and above are 0.3 and 7.8 respectively.

Currently, 85% of our population has been fully vaccinated and 86% have received at least one dose. 21% have received their booster shots.
