Many of us are jetting off to different countries to enjoy our well-deserved holiday.
And I have many friends who made their way to Taiwan and came back raving about the awesome food that they have to offer.
Shaved Ice
Let’s face it, everyone has got to try this at least once. It’s like eating ice cream, only better and tastier.
Available with many toppings, you have got to give this dessert a go! And if Taiwan is too far for you, there’ll plenty of outlets in Singapore serving this delicious dessert.
Braised Pork Rice
Nothing can stop me from craving for this simple yet insanely sumptuous dish.
With just braised pork topped over rice and a couple of pickles, I wouldn’t mind eating this every single day if possible.
Cheese Potato
Not that eating baked potato itself wasn’t delicious enough, but adding cheese in? Now, that’s genius!
Stuffed with bacon, sweet corn, broccoli, egg, tuna, and nacho cheese, can you think of anything that sounds even better than this? We know we can’t!
XXL Crispy Chicken Cutlet
There’s crispy chicken, and there’s Taiwan’s crispy chicken. And yes, they are different. Any chicken cutlet In Taiwan is always good, there’s no doubt about it.
And it’s something you definitely must try if you’re there.
Grass Jelly Milk Tea
You got that right. Not just any normal milk tea, but one with grass jelly in it. Sounds gross? Well, the opposite actually.
It actually taste way better than expected!
Grilled Bacon stuffed with spring onion
Bacon by itself is already amazing enough, but one with stuffed spring onions? Now that is definitely one worth every dime.
Usually found at night markets, this delicacy is beyond perfection.
Man Han Da Can Cup Noodles
While you can find it in Singapore, it is much cheaper in Taiwan. And the best part is, it comes with actual beef/pork.
Well, this instant noodles basically trumps every other one out there. I mean, REAL beef?
Peanut and Ice Cream Popiah
Before you start crinkling your nose in disgust, don’t diss it till you’ve tried it. This dessert is made of yam and vanilla ice cream mixed with fresh peanut shavings, and wrapped together in thin popiah skin.
Trust us, you wouldn’t regret giving this a try.
Smelly Tofu
This may take you a while before you garner up the courage to pop one into your mouth, but if you do, congratulations! We understand perfectly well the horrid smell of this food, but it is a must-try if you are in Taiwan.
Found almost everywhere along the streets, this delicacy taste better than it looks. It’s pretty much like durian, it stinks but it taste great once you bite into it.
Pepper Bun (胡椒餅)
With a crispy outer skin, this delicacy reminds us of the famous xiao long bao. On the inside, it is filled with dumpling fillings with a generous amount of soup.
One bite and you’ll feel the juices leaking out of the dumpling onto your taste bud. Our mouths are already watering at the thought of it.
Over in TikTok, there’s a drama involving property agents that’s caused by us. Here’s what happened:
