And for 15-year-old Singaporean Natalie Ong, this was exactly what happened to her when the nailed her X-Factor Australia auditions.
Natalie was one of the true highlights of the season’s premier, and also the first Singaporean to have joined the auditions and nailing it all. The singer sang The Voice Within by Christina Aguilera and nailed 99.9 percent of the song.
During her auditions, her grandmother was seated in the audience seat and brimming with pride. The resounding results of three yeses saw her entire family high-fiving and jumping around.
Her wonderful performance garnered the likes of judge Iggy Azalea, who also she thinks Natalie could win, and that people will watch this again after she makes it big. Adam Lambert, on the other hand, felt that the song was very similar to the original version and that she needs to make something her own next time.
Nevertheless, it’s still heartening to know that a Singaporean has gotten into the next round of XFactor, one of the most grueling and competitive music competitions around.
Perhaps she might really end up as the next Hartono after all, and bag home a proud win for all of us.
