A 16-year-old cyclist has been arrested after a collision with a 74-year-old pedestrian in Yishun that later resulted in the elderly man’s death.
The accident happened on 15 September near Block 741 Yishun Avenue 5, where police received a call for assistance at about 11.45am. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) took the 74-year-old pedestrian to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, where he later died.
Police said the teenager was arrested for rash act causing death, and investigations are ongoing.
Pedestrian Died Two Days After Collision
The 74-year-old man’s son had appealed for eyewitnesses on Facebook on 16 September, saying his father had been involved in an accident near the junction of Yishun Avenue 5 and Yishun Street 11.
He later shared that his father died on 17 September.
According to reports, the accident happened near a Jollibee outlet at a Caltex petrol station in the area.
The police have not released further details about how the collision happened. The teenager has been arrested, but investigations into the incident are still ongoing.

A person arrested for rash act causing death has not been convicted unless found guilty by a court.
