18-Year-Old Malaysian Detained After Naked Jogging Spree in Shah Alam, Malaysia

A young man was detained by police after he was spotted jogging naked on a road in Shah Alam, Malaysia, on Tuesday (8 Apr 2025).

The unusual occurrence took place around 8:30 AM near Persiaran Kayangan, Section 8, when the 18-year-old Malaysian was seen running without clothes at a traffic light junction.

Witnesses reported the young man appeared disoriented but continued jogging along the footpath, seemingly oblivious to his state of undress.

Video footage of the incident, which shows the man crossing the busy road and continuing his jog on a footpath in his birthday suit, was posted on Facebook by SAYS SEISMIK on the same day.

The clip quickly went viral and has since garnered more than 400,000 views.

Police Intervention and Communication Challenges

Officers from the Section 6 Police Station were dispatched to the scene after receiving multiple reports from concerned members of the public through the Shah Alam District Police Control Centre.

“After being persuaded and reassured, the individual was successfully brought to Section 6 police station,” Shah Alam District Police Chief ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said in a statement released later that day.

Upon arrival at the police station, the young man was immediately provided with appropriate clothing.

Police then discovered significant communication barriers, as he could only communicate using hand gestures.

Despite these limitations, the teenager demonstrated awareness by successfully writing down a contact number for his guardian when provided with pen and paper.

Mental Health History and Family Support

The teenager’s relatives later arrived at the police station to explain his situation and provide context for his behaviour.

According to reports, his uncle came to the station and revealed important details about the young man’s condition.

It was disclosed that the 18-year-old had been living with family members near the location where he was spotted jogging naked in Section 9, Shah Alam.

The relative explained that the teen had been suffering from serious mental health issues for some time and wasn’t acting out of malice or criminal intent.

The family member further revealed that the young man had previously received specialized psychiatric treatment at Seberang Jaya Hospital in Penang.

The young man was handed over to his family’s care.

Mohd Iqbal said that the teenager is now set to receive further evaluation and treatment at Hospital Shah Alam, where mental health professionals can assess his needs and provide appropriate care.
