19-YO Kylian Mbappe to Donate His World Cup Earnings of Over SGD$650K to Charity

For a long time, the footballing world has been dominated by two titanic greats:

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

But just when it looked like they were gonna rule the world forever, one young man stepped up to the challenge and reminded everyone why he’s the second most expensive transfer in history. The man?

Kylian Mbappe.

At just 19 years of age, this phenomenal young talent has already set many fields ablaze with his myriad of fancy flicks, finishing and sheer blistering pace.

And if you need confirmation, just ask Messi and co., although I’m sure they will want to forget that horrible, horrible day as soon as they can.

But here’s the thing; Mbappe isn’t just good on the pitch.

He’s good off it too.

Indeed, it was unveiled that the French footballer will be donating all his World Cup earnings to charity, a small amount that totals up to slightly just more than US$500,000.

Children with disabilities

According to reports from France, French teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe will be contributing all his World Cup earnings to Premiers de Cordee, a charity association that plans sporting events for children with disabilities.

Having reportedly earned US$22,300 per game in the tournament, as well as an additional US$350,000 for helping his country win the trophy on Sunday (15 July), it’s believed that he made as much as US$500,000 over the course of the one month with a total of seven appearances.

Not bad, not bad. Definitely more than my monthly salary, that’s for sure.

A good person

But if you thought that it’s just a marketing gimmick and that Mbappe simply chose a random charity to contribute some of his juice to… you might want to think again.

According to French newspaper L’Equipe, Mbappe is a patron of the association, and supposedly has a very good relationship with the children.

“When his schedule allows it, he intervenes for us with pleasure,” said Sebastien Ruffin, general manager of Premiers de Cordee.

“He has a very good (relationship) with children, he always finds the right (words) to encourage them.

“I sometimes even feel that he takes more pleasure to play with the kids than the kids themselves,” Ruffin added.

Incidentally, the Paris Saint-Germain player was born and raised in the poor Paris Parisian suburb of Bondy, so perhaps that’s why he feels so keen to help the impoverished children of his own nation out.

Simply amazing

Lest you’re unaware, Mbappe put in a series of truly world-class performances in the latest World Cup, netting 4 goals in the process.

Incidentally, the highlight would surely have to be his two-goal masterclass against fellow giants Argentina, who are probably still reeling from having been Mbapped’d out of the competition.

Mbappe also netted in the final against Croatia, a feat that made him the first teenager to score in a World Cup final since Pele in 1958.

As such, the teenage sensation was named the best young player for the 2018 World Cup, and really…

We’re finding it hard-pressed to argue otherwise.

Random fact of the article to end off your day on a sour note:

Mbappe is the second-most expensive footballer in football at €180 million ( £159 million) after Neymar. And yeah, he’s still 19.

Meanwhile, the other 19-year-old kids be like
