Do you know that less than a month ago, we’ve all thought that two days from now, we could finally have Bak Kut Teh in hawker centres?
Well, now, we’ve to look forward to 2 June 2020 instead.
But today, it was announced that certain Circuit Breaker measures would be lifted, so it’s still a good day.
And based on the number of local transmissions…still a pretty goody day.
Today, we have 447 new cases.
This brings the total number of cases in Singapore to 17,548
Out of today’s cases, 4 are Singaporeans or Singapore PRs. The majority of the other cases are migrant workers living in dormitories.
The average number of new cases in the community has been decreasing, too. Based on yesterday’s numbers, it’s dropped from an average of 25 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 12 per day in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased, from an average of 16 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 6 per day in the past week.
Let’s go out to celebrate after days of staying—wait, of course we still can’t do that.
But as mentioned earlier, certain Circuit Breaker measures are going to be lifted earlier than planned, so you can only celebrate by…cutting your hair.
Certain Circuit Breaker Measures Going to Be Lifted from 4 May 2020
If you somehow just woke up and didn’t know about this, then here’s a brief outline of what measures would be lifted in the coming weeks:
4 May 2020
TCMs would be allowed to operate, and residents living in condo can exercise within their condo premises, though facilities are still closed.

12 May 2020
Selected businesses would be open. This includes home-based businesses, food manufacturing and selected food retail outlets, laundry services, barbers and pet supplies. Would food retail outlets comprise bubble tea and McDonald’s? Just stay tuned lah you won’t die from not drinking bubble tea.
19 May 2020
Some students would be able to return to schools in small groups for lessons, especially for graduating cohorts and those that require school facilities for coursework
Yes, that’s about it.
