Unlike the heroic Malian migrant who saved a boy hanging from a fourth-floor balcony in France, these two “Spidermen” managed to get themselves into the news for doing something incredibly stupid and dangerous.
After all, what else can you do when you’re locked in an apartment unit and you simply have to go to work?
The shock of their lives
An elderly Malay couple who lives on the fourth-floor unit of Block 180C, Marsiling Road, got the shock of their lives when suddenly a dark shadow appeared in front of their window during their early morning prayers at around 6:20am yesterday.

The couple, aged 71-years-old and 64-years-old respectively, told Lianhe Zaobao (联合早报) that when they pulled back the curtains, they were shocked to find their window had already been opened and a man – the dark shadow they’ve seen earlier – was standing right outside their window.
The guy was calling out “Tolong” (meaning “help (me)” in Malay) repeatedly.
He claimed that he was visiting his friend on the fifth floor, and for reasons undisclosed, his friend locked him in the house when the friend left.
Unfortunately, he has to go to work, so he decided to pull a Spiderman stunt by climbing out the window and trying to leave the apartment via the floor below.
The couple also noticed that there’s another guy who’s sitting precariously on the edge of the window on the fifth floor.
His feet were literally hanging in the air.
According to Siti, the couple’s 45-year-old daughter, “My father was worried the men would do something stupid, and decided to pull the man who’s standing outside the window into the house first.”
“Once he was in the house, the man quickly left the unit,” she added.

The Other Man Suddenly Fell Down
At around this exact same time, the man who’s sitting on the edge of the fifth-floor window suddenly toppled over from his precarious position.
He fell four whole floors, bounced off the roof of the first floor, and landed on the grass-covered ground below.
Not that the grass softened his fall much though…
The guy was motionless and his head started bleeding profusely.
The police were called and both the ambulance and the police arrived quickly.

The injured man was sent to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital for treatment.
The police are investigating the matter
Currently, the police are questioning both the “friend” who locked both men in his house on the fifth floor and also the guy who was rescued and left via the fourth-floor unit.
The injured man is also being questioned after he regained consciousness.
According to Lianhe Zaobao, the police discovered that the 46-year-old is a wanted man in relation to a drug case last year.
He was promptly arrested.
