The epitome of unrepentant behaviour, this 20-year-old young man, Xu Ming Guang (许名光), was caught riding an electric scooter along the roof of a sheltered walkway, which went viral on the internet in 2019. However, in reality, he has violated the law so many times on a scooter that he ended up facing 20 charges!
That being said, the prosecution has only brought eight of them to court so far.
20YO Faced Over 20 Charges, Including Recklessly Riding E-Scooter on A Sheltered Walkway & Running 2 Red Lights
They include two acts of recklessness, two counts of using criminal force to impede civil servants for the performance of any public duty, one count of harassment, a traffic violation, one count of recklessness causing injury to others, and another violation of the Land Transport Act.
Mr Xu pleaded guilty to all charges and was sentenced to the Juvenile Rehabilitation Centre for 12 months.
Committing a Crime on Camera and Going Viral for It
When he was 19 years old, Mr Xu was riding a friend’s electric scooter in the corridor near Block 180, Lompang Road at Bukit Panjang.
Likely wanting to show off, he asked his friend to take a video of him riding the scooter, and uploaded the video to his social media account.

In the video, he was seen riding the electric scooter along the roof of a sheltered walkway.
He was around 3 metres off the ground.
Naturally, with proof on full display, the police promptly arrested the 19-year-old for reckless behaviour.
Fast and Furious – Electric Bike-Style
At around 5am on 17 June 2018, Mr Xu was caught riding an electric bicycle on Tampines Ave 4 by two patrol officers in a police car.
The young man wasn’t wearing a helmet either because why stop at violating one traffic law when you can do two?
In fact, it seems like Mr Xu doesn’t plan on adhering to any traffic laws that day.
When the two officers drove up to him to ask him to ride his bike on the pedestrian walkway, Mr Xu refused to comply.
He slammed on the accelerator instead, so to speak, and rode away.
At that time, he was travelling at more than 80km/hour on his electric bike.
In his attempt to evade the police – who were in a police car – he ran through two red lights.
Unsurprisingly, the police car eventually caught up with him and he was arrested at Tampines Central 1.
Guess he wasn’t going fast nor furious enough!
To make everything even worse, the police also found out that the electric bike he was riding was unregistered.
But that’s probably just a tiny blip on his now fairly long criminal record.
