In case you didn’t know, with a rise in community cases in the last two days, the average number of local community cases has since increased.

However, that was due to more testing on locals working in pre-schools and all people in nursing homes.

Today, there are 642 cases.

This brings the total number of cases in Singapore to 31,068.

Out of today’s cases, 6 are Singaporeans or Singapore PRs. Yesterday, that was 4.

As mentioned, on average, based on yesterday’s numbers, the number of new cases in the community has increased, from an average of 5 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 7 per day in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has remained stable at an average of 2 per day in the past two weeks.

So, would we be seeing even more local cases?

Yes, based on what happened in the last two days.

2 Local Cases Reported Yesterday Were From Pre-School Tests

Out of the local cases yesterday, 2 were from picked up from the tests that all pre-school staff had to take before pre-school reopens on 2 June 2020.

One of them is a 50-year-old Singaporean woman and had not gone to work recently.

The other is a 58-year-old Singaporean woman who works in My First Skool @ Westgate. She has her onset of symptoms since 8 May 2020 and had gone to work throughout, and had only been confirmed positive on Thursday (21 May 2020).

These tests for pre-school and early intervention staff, including teachers, principals, programme staff, administrative staff, cooks and cleaners, had started since 15 May and so far, over 10,000 staff members had tested negative for the test.

There are still 20,000 more staff members to go, so don’t be surprised if you see the number of local cases going back to double-digit in the coming days.
