Do you know that April is ending soon? Bet you didn’t even know what month it is now given that we’re living each day like yesterday.
But now is a good time to do a check on the progress of the number of cases compared to last month.
Today, we have a total of 799 confirmed cases.

That means we now have a total of 14,423 cases in Singapore.
In comparison, we have 732 cases on 27 March 2020.
Yeah, from 3-digit to 5-digit.

Of the cases today, 14 are Singaporeans or Singapore PRs. Yesterday, that number is 13.
On average based on yesterday’s numbers, the number of new cases in the community has decreased, from an average of 31 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 21 per day in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased, from an average of 21 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 14 per day in the past week.
And while we’re still staying at home eating Maggi Mee every day, some other countries have plans to open up their economy.
Some US States Starting to Open
Despite the US being the country with the most number of cases with a 5-digit daily jump, some states there have started to lift restrictions.

For example , in California, the Governor has reopened some beaches, which led to crowds in those beaches almost immediately:

The state has 42,164 cases and 1,710 deaths.
In Georgia, gyms, fitness centres, bowling alleys, body art studios, barbers, hair and nail salons, estheticians and massage therapists have been reopened since 24 April, and theatres and restaurants will reopen today. The state with about 10 million people currently has 23,481 cases and 916 deaths, though the number of new cases has decreased.
A SUTD projection based on the pandemic life cycle curves suggests that Singapore will continue to see spikes in cases until 5 May 2020, when the number would drop and eventually be completely gone by 7 August 2020.
But of course, everything is based on guesswork, be it the risk of opening up states in the US or when the pandemic would be over in Singapore.
