Believe it or not, death by charging mobile phone happens more often than you’d think. And it’s understandably so since hey, we’re dealing with electricity.
Mix that with the occasional malfunction and my dear reader, the thing you’re holding in your hand right now can easily kill you (and me).

28YO Found Dead; Burnt Hand & Died After Playing With Charging Phone In Bed
In all seriousness, yet another man has passed away due to a charging mobile phone.
This time, it’s a 28-year-old Thai man from Nong Hiang subdistrict in Chonburi who was found dead in his home at around 7pm on 2 December 2019.
The man in question has been identified as Kittisak Moonkitty. He was found lying motionless on a mattress in his room and was subsequently pronounced dead.
But that’s not all. I’m sure you can already guess the cause of death by now.
Hands Had Burn Marks
One of his hands was holding his mobile phone which was linked to a charger that was plugged into a running electrical outlet.
His hands were found to have burn marks, and the cause of death was believed to be electrocution due to his charging mobile phone.
What’s most heartbreaking was that his mother was the one to find him in that state, as she had wanted to ask him out for dinner.
When she first went into his room, she initially thought that he was sleeping. However, she realised that he was unresponsive when she tried to wake him up but could not.
To her utter shock, she finally realised that he was dead.
“Freak” Accident
The doctor that examined his body reaffirmed the suspected cause of death and came to the final conclusion that Kittisak had died due to an electric shock in a “freak” accident.
This incident is not a standalone case and reminds us all not to charge our phones overnight as while rare, these mishaps do still occur.
