Will you be able to leap out of harm’s way or can you do something to rescue the person who is falling?
At Clementi MRT station, a man fell on the escalator.
This resulted in not only him getting injured, but also two other people.

Victim Claims That the Escalator Malfunctioned
How on earth could this have happened?
According to the son-in-law of one of the three injured in the accident, the escalator jerking and malfunctioning were the cause of the accident.
Mr Zhuang (Hanyu pinyin), who spoke to 8world, said his father-in-law was standing behind the man who fell.
His father-in-law saw the man lose his balance and wanted to reach out to catch him.
However, the escalator malfunctioned and jerked.
This caused all the men to end up falling and getting injured.
Oh dear, that sure sounds bad.
SMRT Staff Disagree With Victim’s Account of What Happened
However, the SMRT staff disagree with this account of what happened.
According to the SMRT staff who spoke to the staff at Clementi MRT station, the escalator was functioning fine.
Their investigations of the escalator did not find any unusual electrical currents which would have occurred had the escalator malfunctioned.
Well, we guess the jury is out now about who is right and who is wrong.
Whatever the case, make sure you hold onto the handrails of the escalators from now on or risk being bruised from head to toe.
