Healthy Singaporeans Need Not Be Quarantined When Visiting Thailand

On 4 Mar 2020, confusing messages were sent from Thailand.

In the morning, a Facebook post by Thailand Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said that all travellers from Singapore would need to self-quarantine for 14 days.

The post was subsequently removed.

Then Thai media reported that travellers from Singapore are “advised” to self-quarantine and people were wondering if they have to cancel their holiday trips to Thailand.

The Royal Thai Embassy has stepped forward to clarify matters.

They assure that travellers from Singapore who are healthy will not be quarantined so if you’re still adamant on going to Thailand, you still can.

Update on Fatal Orchard Brawl

For the first time since 2019, more details have surfaced about the fatal incident that took place at Orchard Tower last year.

One man is sentenced to 4 weeks’ jail and is expected to be released as he has been in remand for eight months.

Another man was sentenced to an 8 months’ jail term and given six strokes of the cane.

He will not be released until he received the cane.

With this, only one of the seven individuals in the fatal Orchard Tower killing is facing capital punishment.

Daren Tang Might Take Charge of A Global Intellectual Property Office

And if he does so, he will be the first Singaporean to do so.

He is also the first Singaporean to be nominated for the top office in the United Nations and managed to emerge victorious from a candidate pool of 10 people.

Now, the only obstacle he has to pass is for the World Intellectual Property Organisation (Wipo) assembly to confirm his appointment in May 2020.

So far, the assembly has not rejected any nominees before.

Turkish Airline Flight Held At Changi Airport Over Covid-19 Concerns

On 4 Mar 2020, it was reported that Changi Airport held a Turkish Airline flight within the airport.

A Covid-19 case was confirmed on the flight and Singapore’s Ministry of Health is currently doing contact tracing for the flight.

The plane finally took off at 2.10am with no passengers. Affected foreigners were put up at nearby hotels while Singaporeans affected returned home.

COVID-19 Updates Singapore (4 Mar): 2 New Cases With 1 Working in a Pre-School (But Not a Teacher)

While the number of COVID-19 globally is increasing exponentially, Singapore’s doing well so far, as the number of new cases reported daily stays low.

The first patient is a 43-year-old Singapore PR who has been in Malaysia between 18 February to 21 February 2020.

The second patient is a 62-year-old Singaporean who was confirmed to have the virus in the morning of 4 Mar 2020 and is now isolated in NCID.

All in all, the total number of cases in Singapore now stands at 112.

Out of the 112 confirmed cases, 79 of them have fully recovered and are discharged. 7 of them are still in ICU, while the conditions of the remaining 26 patients are either stable or improving.
