With so many food courts in Singapore, they are no longer special to us. We eat at food courts only for the air con and wide range of choices, and we’ll always leave quickly after eating because of that auntie who keep staring at you, willing you to leave quickly so that she can have the table.
They are not the best place to chill at, but there are some food courts in Singapore worth risking the ire of that auntie who wants the table because, well, they’re just that awesome.
Here are 5 food courts in Singapore that are so beautiful with a theme that will guarantee you’re not just there to makan!
Singapore Food Trail
Let’s not forget this awesome looking food court beneath the Singapore Flyer. This place has a vintage concept of the 1960s and all furnishings are made to exude the vibe of the olden days. Bring your grandparents or parents there for some well-known local delights and bring back their fond memories of the gone era at the same time!
Malaysian Food Street
Malaysian Food Street at Sentosa is a not only a great place to bring your foreign friends to, but also yourself. The unique old town ambience along with the Asian street gourmet will make you feel as though you have stepped across the causeway into Malaysia. This is also a great place to enjoy some comfort food and satisfy your huge appetite after your rides at USS.
Of course, you will stop feeling like you’re in Malaysia after you see how much you have to pay for your food.
Timbre+ Caravan Food Court
Featuring 21 hawker stalls, the super cool Timbre+ food place is a unique and interesting place to visit, no matter for food or Instagram purposes. The hawker stalls operate out of old containers and some of the restaurants serve food from caravan-turned food trucks.
The Food Republic at City Square Mall
Located in City Square Mall on Kitchener Road, Food Republic has created their food court along the theme of the New World Amusement Park. Similar to the concept of the 1960s Food Trail at Singapore Flyer, this food court recreates the vibe of the olden day streets with pushcarts and vibrant shop houses.
The Food Republic at Vivo City
The Food Republic at Vivo is designed like to resemble food places just after the 1900s. Furniture is mostly made of wood, to keep up with the Kampong village feel, along with quirky suspended bicycles. The food court is also decorated with old bird cages to give diners a nostalgic ambience.
