First Singaporean Case Of Wuhan Virus Confirmed

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed its first Singaporean case of the Wuhan virus in the country.

The patient is a 47-year-old woman who travelled to Wuhan with her family.

The MOH confirmed this case along with two other cases on Friday (31 Jan), bringing the total number to 16.

The woman is currently warded in an isolation room at NCID.

New Precautionary Measures Introduced For PAP Meet-The-People Sessions Due To Coronavirus

In view of the Wuhan virus situation, several precautionary measures have been introduced at all meet-the-people sessions (MPS) run by the People’s Action Party (PAP).

Visitors will undergo temperature checks, they will have to sanitize their hands, and declare if they have travelled to China in the last 14 days.

They will also be asked if they have symptoms such as fever, cough or muscle aches, and if they will consent to having their temperature taken.

Scoot To Suspend All Flights Between Singapore And China From 8 Feb In View of Coronavirus Sitatuation

Local budget airlines Scoot will suspend all flights between Singapore and mainland China from 8 Feb due to the rapid spread of the Wuhan virus.

Early on Friday (31 Jan) Scoot first said that it would suspend flights to 11 cities and reduce flights to eight other cities, but after the government announced additional precautionary measures later that day, Scoot changed it to a total suspension.

At the moment, Scoot operates 100 weekly flights to 18 points in China, excluding Wuhan.

TCM Practitioner Couple Suspended After Causing 3rd-degree Burns

Two traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) practitioners have been suspended after one customer had to undergo surgical operations for neck pains and third-degree burns as a result of the treatment.

Registered practitioners Joseph Yap Kwok Ann and Xia Rong Rong were found guilty of professional misconduct and negligence, and improper conduct and actions under the TCM Practitioners Act.

The husband and wife pair,  who both work at Annie Tiang TCM in East Coast Road, were suspended for 30 months and nine months, respectively.

Expect Warm Weather With Few Showers In February

Singaporeans can expect warm weather with occasionally windy conditions on most days in the first two weeks of February, said the weatherman on Friday (Jan 31).

Thundery showers can also be expected in the afternoons later in the fortnight.

This warm weather is forecast because the forming of rain clouds over Singapore and surrounding areas are likely to be suppressed.
