Ever since news emerged about a mysterious new virus that originated in the Chinese city of Wuhan, things seemed to be getting worse with each passing day.
The number of cases and deaths continue to rise, especially in China. At the time of writing, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in China is 5,974, with the death toll rising to 132.
And the frightening thing about it is that the coronavirus has spread all over the world.
In Singapore, two new cases were confirmed yesterday (28 Jan), bringing the total number of infected patients to 7.
But after all the doom and gloom for the last few weeks, there’s finally some good news.
87YO Woman In Wuhan Discharged After Recovering From Virus
An 87-year-old woman in Wuhan has been discharged after recovering from the Wuhan virus.
According to People’s Daily, a total of five patients have been discharged from Wuhan Lung Branch Hospital after receiving treatment for the coronavirus.
Had other virus infections
According to Mothership, the woman was hospitalised on 20 Jan as she was feeling weak and had a fever of 38°C.
The old woman also had other virus infections which led to pneumonia, in addition to a heart attack last December as well as other medical conditions.
After she was admitted, she had a fever for three consecutive days while receiving treatment.
But, thankfully, after many days of treatment, a computerized tomography (CT) scan and test results finally revealed that the elderly woman had been cleared of the Wuhan virus.
The 87-year-old woman was later discharged and left the hospital in a wheelchair to loud applause from medical staff in the lift lobby.
She will be quarantined at home for at least one to two weeks as a precaution.
Hopefully, we’ll get more news like this in the coming weeks. With all the panic and sadness surrounding the situation with this novel coronavirus, we’ll certainly need it.
