Dangerous and stupid. Yes, parking head-in is not only dangerous, but extremely dumb as well. Here’s why.

It’s difficult
Because the steering wheels are in front, reversing a car will require a much smaller radius compared to a car going forwards. This means you will need much lesser space to park the car if you reverse it. This effect is magnified for longer cars. Hence, for a more hassle-free parking, it is better to reverse your car into the parking space. Especially when the parking lot is narrow.

It’s safer
It is difficult to look out for incoming cars when your car’s big fat butt is facing outside. When you reverse out, you have a high chance of getting into unnecessary accidents. Parking with the head out, is another story. You get a clear wide view of everything coming and going. Why not just park your car head out and eliminate the unnecessary danger?

It’s faster getting out
When you need to rush to a place, you can get the car out and going more quickly when it’s parked facing out. This is why in certain countries police cars are required to park facing out when in the station.

Better for unforeseen circumstances
Whether you need to have your car towed away, or you need to charge you car battery with another car, or do any thing to your engine, it is easier to do so with the car facing outwards.

Of course, there are times when it’s better to park your car inwards, such as when you go shopping and need to put bulky stuff in the boot. However, as a general rule, it is better to park facing out most of the time.

Most drivers know this already. If you are a new driver, parking head in might seem the easy way out, as parking is really a pain in the ass. However, please do take the effort to park correctly, to make your driving as safe and easy as possible!
