Over 760,000 CPF Members To Receive Home Protection Scheme Premium Rebates

More than 760,000 Central Provident Fund (CPF) members will receive Home Protection Scheme Premium Rebates this month. This is the first such rebate exercise in over four years.

Rebates totalling $640 million will be given out to eligible members following better than expected investment gains and lower than projected claims experience.

Trump’s Choice for Singapore Ambassador Returned By Senate For Renomination

President Donald Trump’s pick for US ambassador to Singapore has been returned by the Senate for renomination. Ms Barbera Hale Thornhill was nominated.

She is in charge of an interior design firm in Los Angeles, and was returned to the White House last Friday. The ambassador’s post has been vacant since 2017. The appointment of ambassadors is required to be confirmed by the US Senate, involving extensive checks, a hearing and a vote.

S’pore Student Charged In Australia For Importing Childlike Sex Doll From China

A 26-year-old Singaporean man was charged in Australia after he imported a childlike sex doll that he purchased from China. The man is in Australia on a student visa and was arrested in Perth on Thursday.

This came after the authorities intercepted a parcel at an air cargo depot on Christmas Eve containing a silicone female childlike sex doll, which was identified by an X-ray.

Jo Heng, Xinyao Lyricist Behind Eric Moo And Jacky Cheung Song Dies At 59-years-old

A multiple award-winning xinyao lyricist Jo Heng who is also known as Xing Zhenghua passed away on Thursday at the age of 59-years-old.

She is understood to have been ill with lymphoma. She is very popular in the xinyao scene for writing songs such as Jacky Cheung’s A Thousand Sad Reasons and Eric Moo’s You Are My Only One.
