Slight Dip In COE Supply For November To January Period
Car buyers will see a slight dip in the certificate of entitlement (COE) supply for the November-January quota period, according to the Land Transport Authority (LTA).
Overall, care buyers will have about 4,813 COEs a month, which is 1.9% fewer than the current 4,904 COEs.
The monthly quota for cars up to 1,600 cc and 130bhp will average 2,036 from 2,112 now. Cars above 1,600cc or 130bhp will have 2,023 COEs a month, from 2,083 now.

Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan Calls For Cost Efficiency And To Prevent Biased Regulatory Regime For Rail Sector
Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan said yesterday that rail operators haven’t invested enough in maintenance in earlier years. However, he also mentioned to be wary of overspending in the future.
“A regulator working closely with the industry to advance consumer welfare is good. But a regulator getting too comfortable with the industry, neglecting consumer welfare, will be crossing a red line,” he said.

Jeffrey Ong, Who’s Linked To the Missing $33 million, Faces 4 New Charges
A lawyer named Jeffrey Ong vanished after more than $33 million that was parked at his firm went missing.
He was given four new charges yesterday. This includes one count of criminal breach of trust (CBT) as an attorney.
It was revealed that Ong left Singapore for Malaysia in a private-hire car on 13 May. He has since discarded his mobile phone and has been uncontactable.

LTA Is $1 Billion In Debt As Fares Fall Far Below Govt Contracts
Public bus operations have incurred “Losses” amounting to $1 Billion in the 2018/2019 financial year. This was revealed in the latest annual report released by the Land Transport Authority (LTA).
The revenue LTA received from bus fares was $834 million and “other income” was $78 million. This totals to $912 million in operating income.
However, expenditure came up to $1.925 billion. As a result, there was a deficit of around $1 billion.

Engineering groups Siemens and Alstom will be setting up signalling simulation centres for the Downtown and Thomson-East Coast lines in Singapore.
