Driver Molested Two Women Within An Hour of Each Other During Carpooling Rides

A Singaporean GrabHitch driver was sentenced on Tuesday (17 Dec) to a year and 10 months’ jail after pleading guilty to three counts of molestation.

The man had molested two women last year within an hour of each other while giving them rides as part of a carpooling service.

He touched the first victim’s right breast over her clothing and used his elbow to brush the second victim’s right breast.

This wasn’t the man’s first sexual offence; in 2015, he was jailed eight months for molestation.

ICA: Emergency Drill at Johor End of Woodlands Causeway on Wednesday Night, Travellers Advised To Make Other Plans

The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) announced that there will be an emergency exercise at the Johor immigration building and bus terminal after the border crossing at the Woodlands Checkpoint on Wednesday from 10pm to midnight.

Travellers heading to Johor via Woodlands on Wednesday night (18 Dec) should expect a longer travelling time.

ICA has advised travellers to make alternative plans.

Teacher Who Molested 7 Boys From Uniformed Group CCA Gets Jail & Caning

A male secondary school teacher in charge of a uniformed group co-curricular activity (CCA) was sentenced to 26 months’ jail and three strokes of the cane for molesting seven of his group’s teenage members.

The 39-year-old man has been suspended since 14 Sept 2017 and is no longer teaching in any school.

On 5 Dec, he pleaded guilty to three molestation charges involving three boys with six similar charges involving four other teenagers being taken into consideration.

Cycling Network Expansion Could Be Brought Forward A Couple Of Years

Senior Minister of State for Transport Lam Pin Min said that plans to expand the cycling network in Singapore before an original 2030 deadline could be brought forward, as the Government looks to improve infrastructure to facilitate active mobility.

The new aim is to expand the network from 440km to about 1,300km a couple of years earlier than targeted.

This move comes after concerns were raised among e-scooter users over the lack of usable space for their devices following a ban on footpaths.

Repeat Offender Spat At Doctor & Nurse At SGH, Lay On Hospital Floor & Refused To Move

A repeat offender who has been in and out of jail since the 1970s was sentenced to jail again after he spat at an auxiliary police officer controlling traffic at a pedestrian crossing
and at a patient care assistant in Singapore General Hospital (SGH).

He also spat at a male nurse in SGH and punched him in the cheek, and spat at a doctor and nurses at Angsana Home.

62-year-old Choo Bee Choon was sentenced to nine weeks’ jail and a fine of $1,400 after pleading guilty to three charges of voluntarily causing hurt, criminal force and using criminal force on a public servant.
