DBS Bank has just launched a new initiative to make payment easier for businesses. Players in the food and beverage (F&B) industry are currently using this solution to make cashless and faster payments to their suppliers and vendors.

The platform makes use of quick response (QR) code-based and allows for immediate payments through the bank’s fund transfer service PayNow.

DBS has plans to make this solution available to more companies by the end of 2020.

DPM Heng Swee Keat: 4G Leadership Will Build Future Of Hope & Progress

According to Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat, he believes that a fourth-generation leadership will “make every effort to build a future of progress” for Singaporeans.

During his speech, he talked about how he and his colleagues intend to lead the country in the near future, and also talked about how they have plans to give more support to the lower- and middle-income Singaporeans.

SIA & ANA Possibly Collaborating To Grow Traffic & Offer More Flight Options

Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Japan’s All Nippon Airways (ANA) are intending to collaborate with a joint venture deal which will benefit both Singapore’s and Japan’s tourist industry.

Passengers can look forward to enjoying lower fares, more flights, shorter layovers and even the ability to combine flights from both airlines in one ticket.

Heng Chee How: Multilateralism Is Still A Thing Despite More Pushback

Senior Minister of State for Defence Heng Chee How said in a speech that there has been an increasing tendency from some to push back against multilateralism, as a result, we can no longer take it for granted.

He explained that some countries believe that they can better get what they want through “unilateral or bilateral means”.

In order to minimise such situations from occurring, he shared that it is important for leaders to better communicate the benefits and outcomes of multilateral meetings so as to garner more support for it.

It Is Discriminatory For Mental Health Declaration To Be Compulsory

According to the Tripartite Alliance for Fair and Progressive Employment Practices (Tafep), it is discriminatory for mental health declaration to be compulsory.

As a result, they have changed their guidelines stated on their website in December and have engaged more than 8,000 employers through e-mail and other means to ensure that they know about this change.

If the employer is found to not have removed the mental-health declaration part in their job application forms, Tafep may refer the case to the Ministry of Manpower for enforcement actions on the grounds of discrimination.
