Weekly Dengue Cases Fall To Less Than Half Compared To Peak But Residents Should Remain Cautious

National Environment Agency (NEA) released figures on 22 October, stating that Singapore’s dengue situation might have eased up.

Singapore saw a 13-week downward trend in the number of reported dengue cases from the last week of July 2019 to the last week of 12 October.

However, a slight increase in cases last week reminds us to be cautious and wary.

NUHS Chief Executive John Wong Elected To US-based National Academy Of Science

Professor John Eu-Li Wong, chief executive of the National University of Health Systems (NUHS) was elected on Monday, 21 October to the United States’ National Academy of Medicine.

This is in recognition of his contributions to the advancement of the medical sciences and healthcare. The 62-year-old is also a medical oncologist-haematologist and a senior vice-president of health affairs at NUS.

Two Men Involved In SG Nasi Lemak Telegram Group Could Face More Charges

The Two men allegedly accused of transmitting obscene material in messaging app Telegram are now facing more charges involving pornography.

On 22 October, Tuesday, Liong Tianwei was charged with three counts of transmitting pornographic material by electronic means.

The 37-year-old is already facing once charge for a similar offence.

Orchard Road Shophouse Gets Prestigious Restoration Award; URA Marks 30 Years Of Conservation

A century-old shophouse near MacDonald House in Orchard Road won one of the island’s most prestigious conservation awards at the annual Architectural Heritage Awards.

This was awarded on Monday, 21 October. The building is called Temasek Shophouse. The building was used as a townhouse with apartments and shops.

The URA has been giving out the award starting from 1995.
