3 Men Arrested For Robbing And Slashing 2 Women With Penknife In Ang Mo Kio
Three men aged between 37 and 50 were arrested for allegedly robbing two women’s mobile phones. They also slashed both with a penknife.
Police received a report at about 3pm on Monday, 23 September 2019 about the incident at Block 532 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10.
They were robbed of five mobile phones.

Ex-medical Social Worker Sentenced To 8 Months In Jail For Taking Over $50k From Senior Citizens
A former medical social worker illegally transferred more than $47,000 from the bank accounts of two elderly nursing home residents.
She has also admitted to illegally obtaining another $4,200 from seven other senior citizens. She pleaded guilty yesterday to one count of criminal breach of trust.
She was a former staff at Grace Lodge nursing home in Compassvale Walk from 1 June to 11 August 2017.

PM Lee Hsien Loong Accepts Award In New York Recognising Singapore’s Religious Harmony
The World Statesman Award was given by the Appeal of Conscience Foundation, a New York-based interfaith group to PM Lee Hsien Loong on his work trip to New York.
Singapore is ranked as the most religiously diverse country in the world. In his speech while accepting the award, PM Lee says that laying the foundation for religious harmony and maintaining it is hard work.
Other world leaders like the British prime minister and the Indonesian president have also received the award in the past.

SBS Transit & SMRT Trains Apply For Fair Increase
SMRT Trains chief executive Lee Ling Wee said, “We support a 7% fare increase for high performance and sustainability of the rail service.”
Currently, the total operating cost due to more maintenance efforts is more than the fare revenue and is “not sustainable.”
If a 7% fare increase is granted, bus and train fares will increase by around 10 cents per ride.

PM Lee And Trump Renew Key Defence Pact Allowing US To Use Singapore Air And Naval Bases
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and US President Donald Trump renewed a key defence pact allowing American forces to make use of Singapore’s air and naval bases.
Mr Trump said that the US was “close friends” with Singapore. He said, “We have an extraordinary relationship with Singapore and with the Prime Minister.”
They also affirmed the mutually beneficial trade and investment ties between the two countries, anchored by the US-Singapore Free Trade Agreement.
