From 2021, There’ll Be a New Mother Tongue Curriculum for Secondary Schools
Are you a banana—that is, someone who speaks and writes English well, but cannot speak a sentence of your mother tongue fluently?
If so, too bad: you should have graduated from secondary school and this doesn’t help you. But if your kids are bananas, then this would be handy: from 2021, a revised secondary mother tongue curriculum will be rolled out progressively, whereby there will be a greater infusion of cultural knowledge, and use contemporary materials, stories and IT-enabled learning. In other words, more fun lah.

City Harvest Church Still One of the Richest Charities
Even after all the hoo-ha about how $50 million were anyhowly transferred here and there to fund Sun Ho’s singing career, the Church’s still going strong.
After writing off a $26.5 million debt owed by its former fund manager Chew Eng Han, whom they’ve sued to recover the money back in 2014, the Church is now still cash-rich, with $132 million in reserves in 2018.
However, the number of their members have dropped drastically: it used to have 33,000 members but it fell to 16,000 last year.

115 People Investigated for Scams Involving More Than $235K in a Five-Day Operation
Nowadays, criminals do not wear hoodies with masks; they merely sit in front of a computer, mostly half-naked. But that didn’t stop the police from finding them.

An enforcement operation between 19 August to 23 August identified a whopping 115 suspects who might be involved in 214 cases of scam (mainly e-commerce scams). The massive operation involved officers from the Commercial Affairs Department and seven police land divisions.

NUS, NTU and SMU to Have Courses About Sexual Consent
Amazingly, there are going to be courses meant to teach students about sexual consent and respect on campus.
Whatever happens to social norms?
After a series of voyeurism cases this year (think: Monica Baey), the three main public universities in Singapore, namely NUS, NTU and SMU are going to have courses about sexual consent.
