SIA Banning Some Old 15-inch MacBook Pro Laptops from Some Flights

Lest you’re not aware, some old 15-inch MacBook Pro laptops (those sold between September 2015 and February 2017) had a recall as their batteries could pose fire hazards.

Apple’s providing a free battery replacement, but if you have one of those and have yet to replace the battery, then you might not be able to carry it into an SIA flight due to safety reasons.

Another PMD Fire, This Time in Sembawang

Another day, another PMD fire.

Yesterday early morning, a PMD caught fire in Sembawang Crescent. Thankfully, there were no injuries, and no one had to be evacuated. Once again, LTA has encouraged PMD owners to switch to UL2272 certified devices as soon as possible.

NEA Starts Scheme That’ll Make Hawker Stall Rental Cheaper Up to 20%

Always want to be a hawkerpreneurs after watching all those mouth-watering Damn Worth It Facebook videos? Now’s the chance: for new hawker centres, NEA will price the monthly rental at a discount.

There will be a 20% discount on the first year and 10% discount on the second year. You’d have to pay the full amount on the third year, but by then, you should be driving a Mercedes le, because according to NEA, two years is generally the time it takes for new hawker centres to raise customer awareness and build a regular clientele.

And here’s the bad news: you’d have to wait. The latest new hawker centre will only open in the second half of 2020, and the other 12 hawker centres planned for this scheme would only all be completed by 2027.

Man Abandoned Baby in SGH Then Ran Away

Last Saturday (24 August 2019), a 28-year-old did the unthinkable: he went to SGH, passed a baby to a nurse and just fled.

According to reports, the man, who fled on feet after the police chased after his car, had drug-related articles and equipment in the man’s car. The police are still on the lookout for him.

Another woman, who’s the girlfriend of the man, was arrested for drug-related and child abuse allegations. Put two and two together and you’ll know why the police have even sent out anit-riot vehicles to search for the man.

You Can Now Order Popular Hawker Food From GrabFood

GrabFood, or any food delivery service, is bae. But they don’t deliver all foods, and definitely not from those popular hawker stalls.

Not anymore.

GrabFood now has a new service called “Hawker Picks”, whereby you can order from selected popular hawker stalls that usually have long queues. However, the food isn’t cooked on demand; instead, GrabFood pre-ordered them and stored them in “hubs” that would be kept at at least 70°C.

Not sure if the food would taste the same, but anyways.
