63YO Man Found Dead In Ang Mo Kio Flat, 53YO Woman Arrested For Murder

A 63-year-old man was reportedly murdered by a 53-year-old woman in Ang Mo Kio on Sunday (Oct 27).

The police have arrested the suspect and she is expected to be charged in court on Monday.

Preliminary investigations show that the victim and the suspect know each other and the case has been classified as a murder.

SGH: Surgery Invoice For ‘$600,00’ Bearing SGH Logo Is A Scam

SGH has confirmed that there’s a scam involving an invoice bearing the hospital’s logo.

The fake invoice has been sent to at least one person with the aim of borrowing money, said SGH.

SGH added that the poorly-worded nature of the document and its dubious content were both indications that it was not an official document issued from the hospital.

The hospital filed a police report on Saturday (Oct 26).

Singapore’s First Automated Underground Bicycle Parking System To Cease Operation Due To Low Receptivity 

Due to a low take-up rate, Singapore’s first automated underground bicycle parking system, SecureMyBike, will cease operating on Dec 28.

SecureMyBike has the capacity to house more than 500 bicycles but only three of its lots were used daily between February 2018 and September 2019. Moreover, fewer than five monthly passes were purchased on average.

The SecureMyBike system cost about $4.7 million and took about four years to construct.

Irresponsible Motorists To Recieve Harsher Penalties From November 

Following recent changes to the Road Traffic Act, reckless drivers can face harsher penalties from November.

Under the new changes, the duration of the sentences will depend on the extent of harm caused by errant motorists.

The harm caused is divided into four categories; death, grievous hurt, hurt, and endangering life.

The amended act will also classify irresponsible driving offences into two offences: reckless or dangerous driving, and careless driving, which involves driving without reasonable consideration.

HDB Resale Transactions Dip Slightly In Q3 As Prices Rise

The Housing and Development Board (HDB) recently announced a decrease in the number of resale transactions in Singapore’s public housing market as prices rose.

The price of resale flats rose by 0.1 per cent in the last three months.

As a result, the number of resale flats sold decreased by 0.2 per cent from 6,276 units sold in the second quarter to 6,264.

It is also 11.3 per cent less than the number of resale flats sold in Q3 2018.
