22YO Man Arrested For Murdering Two Relatives In Commonwealth Avenue

A 22-year-old man, Gabriel Lien Goh, was charged with the murder of two relatives on on Monday (Oct 28).

One of the victims,  56-year-old Lee Soh Mui, is believed to be Goh’s mother. The other victim, a 90-year-old woman, is believed to be the suspect’s grandmother.

Goh will be warded for psychiatric assessment for three weeks and is expected to appear in court again on Nov 18.

54YO Woman Charged With Murder of Man In Ang Mo Kio Flat

A 54-year-old woman, Wang Shuzhen, was charged on Monday (Oct 28) with the murder of a 63-year-old man.

The man is believed to be the suspect’s husband.

The incident happened in the early morning of Deepavali (Oct 27) some time between 5am and 6.02am.

Police say they responded to a case of “unnatural death” at Blk 633 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6 at 5.46 am. The victim was found lying motionless and was later pronounced dead by paramedics on scene.

Two PMD-related Fires Break Out On Monday Morning

Two personal mobility device (PMD)-related fires broke out on Monday (Oct 28) morning.

The first took place in a seventh-storey flat at Block 106 Bedok North Avenue 4 at 11.15am. The second occured just 40 minutes later in an e-scooter shop in Lorong 19 Geylang.

SCDF said in a statement that the source of both fires was electrical in origin from PMDs that were charging at the time of the fires.

CPF Responds To 72-year-old Who Posted About Getting $575 In Monthly Payouts

The CPF board has responded to a 72-year-old man who uploaded a Facebook post about how he had to resort to being a Grab driver after getting only $575 of Central Provident Fund (CPF) payouts a month.

The CPF board said that man, Mr Clifford Theseira, had failed to present a full reflection of his circumstances.

According to the board, Mr Theseira had withdrawn a total of about $140,000 from his CPF since turning 55. The board added that if he not withdrawn such a large amount, he could have received at least $1,000 per month for his payout.

Taoists Complain About Halloween Costumes On Qoo10, Website Looking Into Issue

Qoo10, an e-commerce website, is looking into Halloween costumes depicting Taoist deities sold on its site after receiving complaints from some devotees.

Qoo10 said that the company’s relevant teams “have already been notified to urgently review the items in question”.

Taoist devotees found these costumes disrespectful because they are based on two Chinese deities which are worshipped by Taoists as guards of the underworld.
